Out with my daughter this morning trying to bag a few Bucks. As much as I hate this state I absolutely love being in the woods here. Don't know if we'll have the opportunity to harvest anything but we're sure going to try. Even if we don't, it's still some of the best quality time you can spend with a kid. Seen a few doe this morning, no Bucks yet. Too many other people crunching around in the woods right now. Hoping they push something our way. I kind of hate hunting public game lands. Everybody and their mother hunts them. I'll post some picks of our area as I take them throughout the day. Cell service is touch and go here.

Eh, thanks but we got skunked today. I hate hunting on State Gamelands. My 22 acre honey hole got sold recently and is now posted land so I got no choice until I can explore some new areas. It was still a good time. I always have a great time when I'm with my kid, don't really matter what we're doing. I use our outdoor excursions more to teach her basic survival skills like tracking and how to deal with being in a situation where you find yourself lost in the woods etc.
If we harvest one, thats like the icing on the cake.

I've hunted on these particular gamelands for about 2 decades. It's the area I know the best other than the other place I mentioned but I've only shot 4 bucks on the gamelands over the years. It's a 600 acre plot with a 2 acre cornfield in the back corner of the place. Nice ravines, water sources and really is well managed piece of land but everybody and their damn mothers trampling all through your area so it's constant noise since people don't seem to know how to pussy foot through the woods. Most sound like god damn elephants coming through. To make it worse they almost always will walk to you and chat.

I'm not too worried about getting a deer as we still have next Saturday then a 2 week break then late season Archery kicks back in until early February so we got time to fill the tags still. Plus I hunt a lot differently when we bow hunt. I'll slip into ya backyard and wack one if it's back there lol. No Florescent orange requirment so I can dip into lands I can't with a high power rifle.

My 300 totally sticks out when in the woods with all the 4x4's. Lol my trunk is filled with car audio equipment so you dont even want to know what we have to do to get a deer back home If we get one. :))

Tracks and scat. The place is litterally crawling with deer. They just running scared now though and the mature bucks have gone pretty much nocturnal.

Ohhh I do. She's my baby and last one I will ever have. I only have 3 more years with her before She's an adult. Man, you blink an eye and 3 years just went by. It's insane. I don't miss swim practices, meets, soccer, track, competitive shooting, chorus concerts, I don't miss nada. If she does it, I'm there and this kid is into everything. She's in 9th grade and tours colleges already. Highly motivated young lady with a sharp witt and super smart in math and science. High honors in AP classes. Already has her life planned out. She got big plans and the drive to succeed. This kid is going places and I'll break my back to make sure she gets there....

Thanks Slim. It's hard where I'm from to keep kids safe and motivated to succeed here in the inner city. Gun violence is a plague here as is Coke, Meth and Heroin. Kid posted on social media last month recruiting people to shoot up 2 schools, my daughters and a middle school she went too and place pipe bombs. They shut the schools down for 2 days here. Caught the kids who posted it but that's the shit we got to deal with. I do my best with her but these kids these days are a different breed and this city aint very big. 120,000 give or take. I keep her busy and focused on goals and away from anyone I read as a negative influence on her in any way. Her mother is 10x worse than me with it.

The only time I like snow is if I am deer hunting. Other than that I hate that part of where I live more than anything else. Lol. If it's below 72° I'm cold.

Love teaching her the finer things in life, like a restraining order is just a piece of paper and you are responsible for your own safety in life, never leave that task in someone elses hands.

Hell yeah AGK you have raised her right. I have often found, also, restraining orders aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Brazilian jiujitsu or even judo would be a great tool for her to have as well.
