too many dogs

Sorry about this ,but I just have to rant about this.I know alot of people on here have mutiple dogs and I'm wondering if anyone else gets alot of shit for it?I for one am tired of peoples remarks about how I have too many dogs.I really dont see the problem ,I have plenty of room ,None of my dogs lack healthcare or anything else,I have no children so I have plenty of time for my dogs,they are all socialized and all have basic obedience training.I dont understand why some people feel the need to express their opinions on how I shouldnt have so many dogs.Why the hell do people care?They dont have to feed them,or pay for them.Anyone else ever get shit like this?

yeah I know,I'ts just that I'm irritated,I dont go around telling people "you dont need that piece of cake " or that beer ,or cigarette.I dont know why people look upon it as being bad that I have 4 dogs.I treat my animals better than anyone I know,They dont lack for anything.Now if it were at the point where I couldnt care for them properly ,that would be different.But I love dogs and what wrong with that?.Sorry for bitching,I just know alot of people on here have the same passion for dogs ,that most people just dont understand.

...people should mind their own business. Individuals that worry too much about what goes on in another's household (barring illegal activities) deflect problems within their own. Neighbors need to fix themselves as opposed to stirring up mess. You should remind those nosey "neighbors" of two time proven trouble prefenting techniques. Two old sayings come to mind...Don't air your dirty laundry (as a general rule for both sides...I'm not saying you do) and to use a biblical paraphrase,"Why do you see a speck in your brother's eye when there is a plank in yours? I am sure there is a lot worse going on in their lives than you owning four dogs!

 

I can care less if you have 20 or 200 dogs on your yard. As long you can properly provide for them, no one has the right to judge how many you can have. Some humans are not even fit to own even one dog never mind a yard of them. The same goes for children, some people shouldn't even have them.

I still have that screwdriver if you need it. I just don't have the explanation...

 

if you can handle them thats all that matters.as long as your keeping up the health and keeping them in good living conditions thats all i would care about.a lot of folks like to tell others what to do makes them feel impowered or something like that.just tell them this say untill your making laws in this land about what i can and can't do all i can say to you and your suggestions are thanks but you can just stick up your ass for all i care.sometimes rudeness gets across faster than anything else when it comes to situations like this one.but myself i never have this problem because folks don't honestly know what i have and don't have,but the main thing to do is just concentrate on your yard and ignore what others have to say when they don't know what they are talking about.just be sure and follow something throughout your life,never take on any more than you can care for right.that will get you every time thats all i ever tell anyone.

I thought you had a large yard also when you posted this. Some folks just have never has a real taste of the greatest dog in the world, so they just dont understand. They have had only poop eaters that are as dumb as a bag full of hammers, and cant understand that your dogs are adding to your life instead of taking from. Myself, several years ago I didnt worry about who knew what I had, and it really caused me allot of problems. The biggest one wasnt someone saying something like this, but the biggest problem was thieving. They wasnt scarred of the bullets, they wasnt scared of a dog getting them, they would do anything but bring the money to get one of my dogs. They would run my dogs down cause I didnt play locally, yet they would risk their lives to get one of my dogs, as, from what I was told, those dogs were smoking every thing around there. One day I put up a privacy fence. Didnt stop nothing. So, I cut some pvc pipe into 3" pieces & drilled holes in the ends of them and nailed them to the inside of the fence every 5' or so. Then I stripped the plastic off of an extention cord and ran it through the pvc(one of the wires, not all of em). Then plugged it up. Well, I never had no more dogs stole after that.
Since then I have moved to another state where folks dont know me. And I have done what old timer said, folks just dont know what I have. If you come by my house, you cant tell I have my dogs, heck, it is hard to see the house from the road. That has been the very best policy for me. I have been locked up before, and I avoid trouble like the plague. If I shoot some fool for trying to rob me with my record, It'll be nothin nice, and I cant just let someone rob me. So I just dont let em see what I have. Call me paranoid or whatever, maybe I am. But I tell ya what, if they ban the dogs, I have remained so low keyed that they'll have trouble getting them.

Sorry you get flamed, just imagine what happens to me. I am a preacher and most folks flip out when they hear me tell them about Jesus, and then find out I have a yard full of bulldogs!LOL I always tell them,"Sir, if Jesus would have wanted a dog, He would have got an American Pitbull Terrier!"

exactly!Thats what they dont understand.Dogs are my passion ,my hobby and people act like i'm doing something wrong.I love dogs and want to have as many as I can take care of ,I just dont know why ,but it really seems to upset people.Old timer,I have also come to the conclusion ,I will just have to be rude!In my opinion telling someone how to run their life or their household is pretty rude ,so if they can be rude,I guess I can too!And purplepig,unfortunatly most this bs comes from my own family and nosey ass in laws,none of my neighbors except the crazy bitch across the street has ever said anything and I dont think they really know for sure exactly what or how many I have.I would be the happiest person alive if I could just move to the country and have my dogs and be left the hell alone.

Here, here! Even then it's no guarantee. . .they'll be talking about "the people with the pit bulls" in your nearest small town.

 

When I got Terra, I was frankly stunned to hear my mom bitching about me behind my back for "prioritizing" the dogs. I think its absolute BS that people can place these expectations upon you to be able to succeed or fail at a certain level of involvement with the dogs. All the dogs in this house get cared for. Others can barely care for one. Who's to say how many dogs I should have when they lack for nothing?

 

Statistics say that money problems is the #1 cause of divorce, I say it is nosey inlaws. And the only way to put an end to it is to put them in their place. My mother in law tried to cause some trouble between me and my wife, and guess what, it was about 4 years before she was allowed around us again. Now, you had better believe that she doesnt put her nose into our business! It was the same way with my own family. Sometimes it is hard for parents to see that you have grown up and they are still trying to be parents. If they wont cut the umbillacal(sp?) cord, you must. Once they see you as an adult, respect will come. Of course if you are a person (and I am not saying you ard) who is steadily having to run to them for help, always in trouble, etc. they cannot see you as grown.
When the Lord restored the relationship with my mother, instead of her taking me out to eat, I was taking her out to eat. Instead of her breaking the bank for birthday presents for me/us, I was breaking the bank for her. And I was a mess growning up, but because I had actually grown up to a responsible person I had become, she had more respect for me than any of my siblings. And the young man who could never do right became the man that "well, I dont care what it looks like, if he's doing it, it is ok." May take time, but if it happened for me, it will for you.
Also, be patient and wait for opportunities to educate. Dont blow up, that doesnt show maturity. Act, dont react. And dont put so much weight upon what others think, you have to live with you more than anyone else in the world, so stand on your convictions and beliefs. In the end you are the only one who will give an account for you!

I'm with Purple and Old Timer, I am fortunate enough to live out in the country and the few neighbors I have, don't know "what I have." When dogs go out to potty, they are rotated and not usually let out all at once. The only person that ever questions is my grandpa. My answer to him is:
1. do they look healthy
2. are they feed and sheltered
3. do I have the time and money
4. Then what's the problem
He agrees and goes about his own business

 

It's because people can't mind their own business, and they feel if they think it's too many, that you should feel it's too many. They think their opinion is the only one that matters, and they don't care who knows it.
