He may have a dog named Drop Dead Fred if anybody can catch my drift. Not that there's anything wrong with not having a bulldog, I just normally steer clear of 90% that do have them and 100% that don't lol

I am nothing more than a internet dogman that has a chihuhua that I dress up,,,
but I built a three storey mansion for him in my living room!!!
she has cable set up and we also have a weight pullling cart that she pulls her house around on
when the shit builds up around it soits kind of a conditioning method/ moblie mansion of sort...

I never had a bulldog and wouldnt take one for free,,, I just read the internet for the last thee years and came with this...
I am a internet dogman with a dog unlike you internet dogmen with dogs...

Bamaman knows how slow I am on the computer as I had to pm about how to start a thread,,,
if i did have a dog and could record it or take a picture I am sure I would not be able to share it...

some use a collar but I would use a harness with pulling tracer that can be seen and purchased at stillwater...

Contrary to popular belief you can't be a dogman without dogs. And simply having dogs doesn't make you a dogman either as well as being a dogman and logging on to this site doesn't make you an internet dogman....

  8. So, based on above. If a real dog man is no longer active in the game, and for various reasons like economics etc. does not have a dog now , he is no longer a dog man . hmm can you please define what a dogan is too you based on the above comments.
i will give you my definition of a dogman/woman in turn . thanks Cajun...

Depending on the person a respected former dogman or a person that simply used to have dogs. Because my definition is person that is working their dogs.... And without a dog you can't work it

There are many types of dogmen/women...
Different types from different breeds and with the bulldogs a dogman is often refered to as a man thats active with his dogs...
Now if that man is a dogman for a good part of his life and decides to get out of the dogs,,,
He is still a dogman in heart and probably knows more than alot of the men that consider themselves dogmen...

There is the John P Colby type that most know he never matched a dog but Heinzl noted him as looking at them thoroughly,,,
Now he is the most significant breeder in apbt history if not any breed,,,
Whos to say because JP Colby never WORKED a dog that he wasnt a DOGMAN???

There are many diffeernt facets of dogmen and breeding them as mrColby did is a big one...

The husbandry one might take on with a yard full or a house dog also makes for a certain type dogman,,,
I know of a man thats only interersts were to shape a dog for his owners,,,
he didnt attend the show or participate any other way besides enjoyed getting a dog into great shape,,,
now is he a dog man because he WORKs dogs???
or not because he has no other participation???

In all dog worlds there are many different type DOGMEN/WOMEN that help it be what it is,,,
the late Mr James Edwards was of this type that had bulldogs but let others utilize them,,,
he and his infamous gr ch molly bee were a perfect match for what some would consider the truest dogman of all...
    The WarEagle...

Authors like Pete Sparks and Richard Stratton are also key dogmen that were never active and helped educate dogmen more than most,,,
I would consider those types to also be dogmen...

And there is the women behind the men that might never step a foot over a box,,, attend a show or even agree with it,,,
but alot of these women have more to do with the success of those dogman than most would imagine...

Pat Carver,,, Joan Sorrels and Phyliss Mayfield to name a few...

Behind alot of good dogman there is a solid woman that I would consider a dogwomen for all that they do also...

I like a cable run for what you need, as already explained, I make mine about 30 foot long with a 12-15 ft chain. I dont use the regular store bought ones, I use farm grade , heavier duty than what your big box store sells for dogs.. The runner or pulley I use is a lot bigger & made for constant use on machinery... Give it a try, you'll like it a lot better...

I always thought Dogman was earned & was a title that had to be placed by ones peers, never thought much of self proclaimed dogmen.

I've been using 15m-20m rebar since its been so hard to find axels now a days. 3' "T" welded with 8' zinkcoated chain, lap links, swivel and double "O" rings through a collar.
Rebar is really cheap and you can cut to size. Works well for me and has never failed to date.

Keep a close eye on those lap links..I never liked axeLs I've got a couple that will pull them up ,no problems.Your better off with the rebar IMO..

    good posts...
I seen a 1' piece of rebar threaded threw the chain as an anchor cased in hole with a bag of cement,,,
less than five dollars and last as long as a dog...

tack welding lap links or s hooks adds for extra insurance and I have seen chains with no links as the swivel was a welded part of the chain...

Yep , u can weld them EP....If not u sure better keep a eye open. They will fail and cost u a accident.Been there and done that.I almost did the same dam thing u mentioned with the rebar and cement..I like what I am using now, earth anchors work really well.I dig down past the top soil and screw them in that hard red dirt.Never had a problem.

What happens with lap links when the chain wears thin , links will wear thin on one side.Well that link will eventuallybe thin enough to slip through opening on a lap link.Dog hits the end of the chain a few times and bam , loose dog.Why I say keep a close eye or weld them like EP said.Personally I just don't fuk with them.

Bigger the lap link the bigger the gap.
