I fed TOTW for a few months when I had a couple of dogs and I liked it but as you said, I felt it was overpriced. Victor has a grain free fish formula that I have fed before and I like it a lot and they also have a fish formula with grain (no corn etc) that I like also. It's more affordable so that's what I buy from time to time to switch it up if I want a fish formula. It's called 'ocean fish'. If you're not a grain free freak then I'd check it out. Victor is great feed. I really like it.

The grain free fish formula I mentioned is called 'Yukon River'.

TREEZ are you somewhat skeptical about the whole grain free thing? I'm just curious about your thoughts on the subject. can't seem to makeup my mind on it, people fed their dogs the grocery store brands forever, and most seem to do ok on it.

Heck, I don't know enough to have a real opinion on it. Like you said, dogs were fed grains for many moons and they hunted just fine. I believe some quality grains is good in a diet. We eat grains, not sure why it wouldn't be good for dogs. If I only had a few dogs then I would feed raw instead of grain free kibble. But if I'm feeding kibble it's because I don't have enough time/money to feed the number of dogs a raw diet and if I'm in that situation then I surely wouldn't be buying grain free kibble. Probably not answering your question lol.

Have you checked with local feed stores to see if you can get Victor locally? If you can get it then the Yukon River would be worth a try. It's very similar to TOTW fish formula but cheaper. If you're ok with grains, get the ocean fish. it's 40lbs and cheaper than the $48. At least here it is.

I tried TOTW and ended up feeding my dog at least 50% more and he could never keep the weight on compared to Victor. Tons of more shit also.

NOT HAVING THAT PROBLEM, WHEN I FEED THE VENISON AND BISON FORMULA THE DOGS SCRATCHED ALOT, SO I SWITCHED TO THE FISH. THANKS, TREEZS I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER SEEN VICTOR HERE IN WISCONSIN.

No problem. Look on the dealer locator and see if a feed store has it near you. It is only sold at 'mom and pop' feed stores and businesses. It is not found in the chain stores.

If you have a TSC near you try there 4health brand. Very good feed for the money!

I got some Victor Hi-pro Plus a week ago. The dogs like it and have hard turds. So far so good.

Does the protein/fat ratio really matter? I have been feeding Earthborn Holistic Primitive Natural, 38/20 I switch it up sometimes and feed Coastal Catch which is 32/18

High protein and high fat mean the dog needs to eat less in order to get the same calories and nutrition as contained in a higher volume of less concentrated food. Exactly how high the % of protein and fat should be is open to debate and even heated argument. Dogs should have access to water, but that's especially true with the super premium, high protein foods. 38% protein is way up there. High protein requires higher water intake to process (kidneys need to process proteins). The Victor is 30/20, which is higher in both protein and fat than average, and is just over $1.00/#.
