what do you guys thin k about the watchdog bloodline? before everyone gets all worked up I know it is a show bloodline and yes I know this is a gamedog fourm. Is it true watchdog was the firtst blue bloodline. I have noticed alot of watchdog / game line crosses also alot of watchdog/old famaly red crosses.(Mccoy,reddevil,etc...) thay must have more game/ability/comfromation than the so called short wide and bully blue lines popular today like say the razers ege, gotti line, blue rino, grayline dog's or the mix breed eddington/chevy dogs....right??????? I feed a awsome dog with watchdog/ironline/Zebo/adams art/mccoy lines. he is defanitly big 87 pounds at 13 months. Im sure due to the watchdog blood. but he has great comfromatin great agility, stanima and looks noware near as goofy looking as these short and wide dogs. any info from anyone knowlageable on the line would be greatlly appreciated.

I don't know if it is true that watchdog is the first blue bloodline. If it is, it is really nothing to be proud of. It just means that they were the first to start breeding for the color blue and size. I guess you can call them the pioneers of alot of these sub par dogs we see now. As for old family reds, there are almost no game bred ones around anymore. They are bred for size and color too. A shame.

But, I know that watchdogs when properly bred, can make good hog dogs. You might want to check in on the sport if it is legal in your area. The dog may really enjoy it.

I have a Watchdog/Chinaman female and she is showing nothing but mouth and drive since I got her as a pup. At 14 months she is alot to handle but I expect good things from her as she has so far made me proud. I'm sure she would make an awesome hog dog and should do good in weight pulling, even at 65lbs she has alot more wind than my smaller dogs. I rarely see her tire, ran her 30 min on the tread last night on her 2nd day of trying it and she was not tired at all, she'll hit the spring pole non stop for 45 min outside in the heat and even that does'nt tire here, she just keeps going, the other dogs will tire out.

However I do see Watchdog being bred for size and color and alot of the dogs don't look like good performers. The breeder of my female is amazed at how well she turned out, her siblings are'nt turning out as good unfortunately, more like show dogs so far. I just got lucky really, I had 1st pic at the time and my friend helped me pic her and i'm glad because she has way more potential than the others from what i've seen. I think she came out good because of the Chinaman cross on her sire's side.:)

That's what I was thinking, since she acts so much dif than other Watchdogs that i've seen. She also has Sorrells and Dick Tracy on the bottom side. What's Dick Tracy anyways?

my watchdog blood came from www.geocities.com/hillsbluepits. there not your 100 lb mastiff mixes. my boy is only 55-59 lbs. he is not all that big. in his pedigree these names apper in a 4 gen. pedigree. WATCHDOG HENRICKS STONEWALL,WATCHDOGS RUBY. ROZMUS' STRETCHY MCCOY, AND thats it except it just is said more than once. my watchdog male clyde is unlike any blue i have ever seen. he hates hogs and will hunt any day and loves to work. he has known of that new watchdog in him. he has the old stuff that came directly off kc coutourier. this old blood does not appear to be a show blood from what ive seen. my boy hates females and males. my gamebred male even likes females its only my blue that i got to seperate. ya'll holla bck on this bloodline.

You can't confuse gameness and aggression.

exactly, that watchdog blood did produce some winners (years ago) but due to the popularity of the blue color, wich watchdog blood is none to produce do to the strong influenc of heavy dibo blood crossed with pure ruffian blood (black jack x henry), I would say that it's impossible to come across a true one worth a bet. I would be surprised to see any good watchdog blood that appears with in four generations of a dog today. JMHO
