i was going to say- nice addition w/ the wire to deter him from going where he shouldnt and helping avoid a potential accident ( hanging)

as far as metal for the steps- look at flashing, or you could use drywall corner strips...

ok cool that is what I was thinking of using, the drywall ones, because I don't have to drill them and they have many holes in them :D I am planning on going tomorrow to get them because the fiance is off then and ty for the though on the wire that is why I did it, he has never tried to get out of the fence but man I don't want him to get his head stuck in the deck lol, the wire also goes actually around most of the yard and under the main fence about a foot to deter digging around the bottom of the fence and it seems to work pretty well

I've seen this setup used in many old pictures, and it works for my dogs because they aren't overly aggressive, and they're too small to move the house. I wouldn't recommend it with game bred dogs.

jus a newb question here how come you use a o ring on the collar end of the chain instead of a regular snap end are the snaps just weak or the d ring on the collar its self i have still water collars and the d rings on the collar are pretty durable

I think it's so the collar won't rub so much also its cheaper and easier to replace O rings than to replace collars. I use a snap but it is safer to use the method shown less chances of a problem.

quick links and bullsnaps are not ideal, Nobelstons situation is a mess, Miss APBT using a quick link is not optimal either.

this is a tie out thread and people are failing

very true but i covered it with lock tight and screwed it up.

    you sugest lap links?

Because if they are just tightened by fingers they can eventually unthread. What i do when i have to use the quick links is put a little lock tite on the threads, and then i stick a screw driver threw the middle (for leverage)and i tighten the link with a wrench.Haven't had one unthread since.

lap links and S hooks are better then quick links and bullsnaps

if you only have one dog and not hitting the end of its chain you should be ok though, not sure youre situation

No hes a lazy shit, i think i will need that when the little pup in the pic gets bigger, shes forever jumping and hitting the end of the chain.

i like to use tree limbs to keep the chains off the ground as dragging it along the ground will eat up your yard and make a dusty environment in most scenarios. I'll use chicken wire and corresponding stakes so they can only travel 359* around the tree as not to get entangled. just an option for those with the space.

i too use home depot harware,... threaded c clamps and bull clamps...i've never had one come undone. if you use a wrench and cinch that thing down hard...then it rusts over and seizes. it's never coming off. plus with my tree hanging chain method it never hits the ground to create hard contact to loosen the clamps. just my .02
