Not fishing I have been to this site http://www.ironlinekennels.com/Page_1x.html and remembered they had OFRN. I am pretty sure the mans name is Mike and goes by Iron mike but it isn't the same guy. Just a mistake.

I didn't make a comment either I just asked a question. Sorry I said something wrong.

I was just asking a simple question. I knew that the red nose breeds were always bigger than the otehr game dogs. I didn't know how much bigger. I'm young and just tryin to learn more information from people that have been around the block. I was confused bc they were all 70-80 pounds bc their pedigree's look good. so thats whuy i asked for opinions....

I was just asking a simple question. I knew that the red nose breeds were always bigger than the otehr game dogs. No,What you mean is, you knew dogs from the ofrn (old family red nose) strain tend to run larger than other gamebred lines. I didn't know how much bigger. I'm young and just tryin to learn more information from people that have been around the block. I was confused bc they were all 70-80 pounds bc their pedigree's look good. so thats whuy i asked for opinions

Look Kid maybee I was a lil harsh. If you fed these red dogs for a while all the missinformation people spew at you gets old after a while. I've become a lil defensive when it comes to this strain of dogs. FYI Most hemphill dogs range between 30-60 pounds like Crazy Horse stated in a earlyer post.Oh and By the way....Them pedigrees look like crap. Unless youre into 80 pound coutch ordamints. A word of advice, Stick around, Keep a thick skin, And do less telling people what you already know. Open youre eyes and listen. Big Game

Wow a Colby answers these posts. That is like being an ammature boxer and having a sit down conversation with Cassius Clay. I am not being sarcastic, I'm being 100 % honest. I would love some tips if you have any to throw my way.

  6. what are they?

  7. ok I know what they are now. The only person I know who actually owed and bred Hemphill bloodlines was Robert himself. Those dogs come from Lightner / Colby breeding. I got more information on that later .... have to hit my files ....

I've owned five dogs that were down from Hemphill/Wilder dogs. They were all very different in some ways but similar in others, but they were outcrossed. Venus and Nyx were somewhat shy, but REALLY intensely driven. Nyx had some issues with people when I first got her but that was because her previous owner was an idiot and encouraged the behaviour. We got her turned around in about a year where she was a TOTALLY different dog. Marz, Tank and Arez, who were Mayfield/Clouse x Hemphill/Wilder are much more outgoing that Venus and Nyx were in regards to the shyness thing. None of them were/are remotely human aggressive. In fact the complete opposite. Friendly to a fault if that is possible. They were/are all catchweight dogs. Tank has harsh monster mouth. Man can that dog bite. He's got HORRIBLE wind though so really hard to condition. Amazing dogs with kids, each and every one of them. I'd love to get my hands on that cross again. Great dogs. Mine were just ''pets'' though so I can only comment from that perspective. lol

My girl Scarling has some Woods and Lar-san mixed in there which is odd if you look at the rest of her ped. She's got total shit temperament. Anxiety ridden and snakey with anyone but me and the kids. Decent drive though and likes to work. She couldn't bite her way out of a wet paper bag. :/

ive owned some damn close to pure hemphill and wilder dogs as much as i liked them in the purest form that i had they did tend to be people aggressive medium mouthed no wrestle ability straight forward game i tended to like them more in a 50 50 cross crossed them into tudor nigger bred dogs and got beast back that where very talented dogs game mouth wrestle ability and lost some of the people meaness when those red dogs went off you had better head for high ground cause they where gonna eat your ass up they did make real good personal protection dogs trained them in a ring sport style of training and they excelled in it as box dogs thou better results for a more complete dog when i crossed the blood they could be compared to the redboy line in all aspects with the inclusion of the deep aggresive nature it showed early and never faded

I see once again your info is incorrect John! There were many people who owned dogs bred from Hemphill himself or dogs bred from his breedings without crosses.

To my knowledge as of present day the only kennel with the purest and most proven Hemphill bred dogs are Old Family Kennels.

That is correct, OFK has the purest available to the public.

In my opinion the Redboy dog was a hemphill dog with false peds, and what we know as the redboy line is really the truest form of hemphill dogs. They even look the same, and share the same qualities.

And please do your homework, or talk to some old timers before trying to cast your metaphorical stones...

I have one that isn't pure Hemphill she has some redboy and such but she is about 50lbs, hard bite and has no sense of HA only DA and aggression toward wildlife such as cats, squirrels etc. A very nice bulldog but hard as hell to kennel train, and hard as hell to train in general.

i know a guy who runs the stuff and he will tell you straight up those dogs have a NASTY temperment! His only outs are thru the redboy (deacon) blood.

The Red Boy dogs are primarily made up of Ross' Red Devil bloodlines. My only interest in the Red Boy dogs comes from my purchasing a pup with Red Boy blood, through Norrod's CH Gambler.
Bass' Tramp Red Boy's dam was McCleods Susy Q Gal. Her damn was Franks Sugar, whose mothers side was pure Creed bloodlines from Rizers Bonnie, who was sired by Ross' Red Devils littermate brother, Geltz' Tuffy.
Bass' Cleo was sired by Loposays Cash, whose sire was Loposays Bouncer, littermate brother to Wise's Sister Sue, from inbred Ross' Red Devil blood.
There is Hemphill blood also, but at a smaller % than RD, which is in it over 50%, if the peds are correct. And the Red Devil bloodline is made up heavily of dogs from Corvino's Shorty, who was sired by Bruce's Jerry, pure Old Family Red breeding of Con Feeley. And the Red Devil bloodline is no longer available to the public.

If anyone wants to check the site Crazy Horse listed, Old Family Kennels speaks of where the purest Hemphill dogs are, and that they don't sell to the public.
To my knowledge, the only outcross made was to Norrod's CH Iron Spike ROM, which added to the performance qualites of the Hemphill dogs, as stated in the history section of the Old Family Kennels site.
And yes the latter day Hemphill dogs were HA. Lots of culling was needed to fix this. I hear the problem still exists today in places.
If anyone wants info on Hemphill dogs, contact Old Family Kennels, as thats the only breeder I know of that sells these dogs.

BTW, didn't see any metaphorical stones being cast by anyone so don't know where that came from...:)

What brought up this old thread?
There are no "pure" Hemphill bloodlines today.
The purest is still kept by Ironline Kennels.

There is a big difference between Hemphill bred dogs and Wilder bred dogs.
Jake wasn't the breeder Bob was.
I have known many people over the years which owned dogs directly from Bob.
i.e. When Bob bred Geronimo to Dixie it produced Lowman's Shine 2xw and the sire of Jack Kelly's Big Susie 2xw.
Many other people owned the litter mates to the dogs Jake got.
Jake was just the best peddler so best remembered.

just as a piece of information , in the 40s or maybe just a little before , earl tudor couldnt get a match ,as he was the no1 in his era , and people knew he was hard to beat , but he put an ad into a magazine of the time which put out a challenge to all dogmen that he would match three dogs to any man or combination of men for a $1000 and if he didnt win all three fights they won the money .not one man took himm up on that challenge , which shows you how tough tudor and his dogs were to beat , but bob hemphill did call him up just to check with tudor that he was reading the advert correctly , and tudor told him he was , but he never heard back from hemphill , and i wolud have thought that if hemphill and others of the time believed more in their dogs and their own abilty they might have taken tudor up on his offer , but none did .
