Im a little confused about alot of you on this site!!!

Most say its not good to breed any dog thats not proven. Yet it is illegal to prove them. I.E. (Fighting) I know there are other ways such as competitions and such but isnt a game dog meant for fighting? Ive watched A golden retriever chase down and kill a groundhog does this mean it is game?? My pitty is a mix breed rescued from the pound. Hes absolutely beautiful and so says everyone that sees him. I understand that the dogs were originally bred for gameness. But why would you want that anymore (USA only) if its illegal ,and from many of the underground fights found on the web its also just wrong to me. So I guess what Im asking is what is the definition of game in a APBT or APBT MIX breed. My pitty can go for hours, long after most dogs just plain quit. I once put his favorite toy in 2 cardboard boxes and duct taped them on all sides heavily (100 mph tape) It took him 3 hours to get it but he did and didnt even think about stopping untill he got it. Yet he has no problem with any other dogs , male or female. so he has the drive but who knows if hes game! I hear alot about PETBULLS on this site arent all dogs pets ? Working or non? I heard someone say those are just lazy pet bulls WTF is that about and who that person to say just because its bloodlines werent from grand champ fighters that the dog was bad? Really if your in the USA and you have a grand champion dog how is that??? ITS ILLEGAL TO FIGHT THEM SO HOW DO YOU KNOW ??? And just because you dont have a ped on a dog whos to say hes not the start of the new bloodline one thats not proven but is fully able to???

Look on one of the top blue bars on this page and click on search. Search under the forums for game and you should learn a ton. The reason game lines are so valued today is that the gameness of the breed plays a major role in how this breed's temperment and personality was shaped. It is a key factor in what makes this breed special, amongst other things of course.

Because of the "underground" fighting rings that you spoke of and other countries, people are still able to get truely tested dogs. Your post makes me believe that you are not ready for this type of breed. Now don't get me wrong there are Blues and Paper conformation champions in which you can enjoy but leave the game breed stuff to the ones who enjoy the "illegal stuff!!!"

Actually I already am the proud owner of this breed and I would in no way ever think about fighting him. Especially in the thick headed illegal underground bullsh_t fights that take place today. Dog fighting is a big part and reason for this breed and I like learning about it in a responsible manner. I just hate the people that have a bug up there asses about the gameness rather that the temperment and traits that these dogs share. And to anyone that can actually watch a dog fight and in any way say it is humane or fun for the dogs then I say lets you and I set foot across from each other in a pit and Ill show you how much youd like it to be beaten untill you piss blood.

Underground fighting cannot be used to prove a dog either. it is un regulated and not recognized therfore pointless(USA) other than the power hungry big heads own personal needs to be tough when they cant do it there selves.

This is why we are having so many problems with this breed. Come on now illegal stuff. And some of us wonder why we have so many problems with BSL. This mentallity will keep us on top of the list. I really enjoy this breed and would never want to own another breed of animal, but on the other hand why would you want to keep the public eyes looking down at us because of the ILLEGAL STUFF. I try everyday to promote the breed in a different view than just the fight mode. I inform people of the history of the breed and where it has come from.

  6. I will carefully try to reply to your post.

1st, IMHO, dog matching is neither inhumane nor a sign of mistreatment. When done correctly, both dogs are well conditioned and fed (much like a professional HUMAN combatant) and proper medical attention is at hand post fight. In addition, game-bred dogs naturally yearn to fight (much like a human child of athletic parents will enjoy and excel in athletics). Clarification: Although I do not deem dog matching as "bad", I have never been a party to a dog fight (just to make this clear).

2nd, IMHO, an athletic dog can be both a Petbull and an athlete. I personally dislike owners that keep their pets FAT AND LAZY. This is the problem. This breed is a working breed and should be worked one way or another. couch potato Pet bulls is something anyone that loves the breed should have a problem with.

  7. This is something I respectfully have to disagree with....

The number one enemy is not DOG MATCHING. The number one enemy of our bulldogs is DRUGS. Yes, drugs are the ones that truly have become our sport's number one enemy. If you truly pay attention to how BSL is being "sold" you will see that they link drug trafficking (and other criminal acts) to dog matching. Ideally, if we were to remove this association, we would make it extremely hard for BSL to be welcomed. Drug trafficking and dog matching should not go together.

Yes, I realize many will feel singled out but if the shoe fits......

Anyone truly in love with the breed's sport should first get an education and profession then get into the dogs. This will help you learn faster (re dogs) and appreciate them for the athletes they are not the money machines they potentially could become.

    Respectfully yours,

    Rocky's Human

I have a question for you: Why would anyone besides a indy race car driver by a Ferrari Enzo?

You know what you are getting before hand, and if you dont use it-you lose it. If your not willing to take the car to the track and see what it can do, then whats the point of it sitting in your garage?

Some folks are happy with Ferrari bodies layed on top of Toyota frame....all the looks of the original, while really sharing no traits aside from looks. I'm not one of those people. Not everyone is a race car driver, and not everyone should acquire a gamedog.

To me, its simple. If you dont want to race a Ferrari, buy a Toyota. If you want a car to do nothing other than drive 1/2 mile to work in city traffic each day, dont buy a car that was made to go wide open for hours!

Well, if dog matching is inhumane, then MMA is the devil's sport.

I'd say the majority of "drugs" involved in the doggers is weed. If ANY weed, coke, etc. is found at the same scene as the dogs it goes hand in hand. When talking about marijuana, media/cops use the term "drugs" to describe it. So when drugs and dogs are put together people tend to think Pablo Escobar type drug dealers when its mearly someone with a lil bit of weed. This is not always the case, but it happens a lot.

Why would Pablo Escobar want to draw attention to himself? Especially with baby killing pit bulls??? Its ALL media manipulation.

  12. Well, I was actually thinking of those people that sell it for a living (drug trafficking) and do nothing constructive. These people wake up at noon and start selling by 5PM. These people may have a few dogs (5 or 6) and have like-minded friends with a few dogs each. These people sell from weed to crack in order to stay comfortable and have $ to bet on dog street fights. There are others that have enough money and people to rent a space where they build their "pits". These people roll their dogs once every 6 weeks and only have basic understanding of medical procedures and medication.

Rocky's Human: How do you know all this stuff?? You said you have never witnessed a match... and the part about drugs and dog fighting sounds very bizzare...

  14. Well, it is not like they are selling it while a match is going on....if you or anyone else thought that is what I meant, it is not.

Why does it sound bizzare? They have to make money some how, right? Now, I am speaking of those individuals involved in "street" fighting......but I am sure it happens in the fastlane as well.

How do I know? well, I have met people of different kennels that earn their money by selling "yeyo" (aka cocaine) and another that sells crack aka "base". They use this money to pay the rent, dress comfortably, feed the dogs, and bet on fights.

With that said, I will have to say that I know of a kennel that does not (from my knowledge) sell drugs.

Um, I'm pretty darn sure that the sport was made illegal many years ago as a part of the Animal Welfare act. You know, an era where many things were deemed "cruelty to animals" and made illegal.
TYPICALLY when someone has no respect for the law, they tend to break it in more ways than one. I am not saying that fighting rings are always associatted with drugs, not at all, but I am saying that those who live on the edge tend to do so in more ways than one. There is a whole "scene" that goes along with drugs and it can start out fair and righteous and end up a whole new "scene" that is anything but good. I'm having a hard time explaining my point... but if anyone gets what I'm attempting to explain then... yipee!
Rocky's Human - LOVE the new Avatar! You've got your dog and your Jeep! NICE
14Rock - LOL, I noticed you have a new one too!

I understand in most cases where dog fighting is legal that there are regulations and rules as to not make the sport inhumane. So I am not really speaking of "LEGAL" dog fighting but this in a garage built ring inside an abandoned drug house fighting that is inhumane and cruel. These people are uneducated and only looking to better themselves and do not care about anything other than winning and making money! In MMA fighting like someone mentioned there are rules and regulations in which the ref or judges will stop the fight if the fighter is unable to protect or defend himself intelligently. But when most of these underground fights take place it is to the death and even if the dog isnt killed it is left for dead after the match for not winning.

Wow what a thread, LOL to me all game breeders just need to except the fact that basically having game dogs is illegal. Let me say first of all that alot of things are illegal in this damn country and there is no one in this damn country that obey all the laws in this damn country. Second of all, some of the things that are illegal in this country are BS. To me this whole damn country was created on blood. Half the laws that are created like stealing and killing are how we got this country we call America. I'm not saying that stealing and killing is right but alot of the laws are bull shit. I LOVE GAME DOGS and what I love about them is because they are GAME DOGS, game and what it is. I love the fact that these dogs wont quit, wont stop and are the most loyal friends in the world. You can judge all you want and point your finger I really dont care LOL. I'll laugh at you, and go on about my business because it is my business. So sorry that you are hurt and that you can't stand us game lovers, LOL too bad live with it.

So basically you people want dogs with a proven history just to say that you may have a winner. This whole proven game crap is just that, crap. You people who vouch for game dogs so much are no better than the people who want a dog for looks, because you want a dog just for it's history. I have been here long enough to witness people become members and open up to your little BS history lessons while you don't want to hear what they have to bring to the table if it aint suiting you. Either way this breed is a lose-lose situation because a group of people wont compromise on the future of this breed. Forget history and forget what others are doing. If you love this breed, then ask yourself this question: How have you impacted the future of this breed to fit into society?
When I ask myself, I realize that society hasn't accepted it.

If you don't like the breed the way it is or its history, get out of the breed and get a poodle. enough said!
