Anybody have any info on this catch weight game dog,and did any of his blood survive to become anything besides the dibo blood that we was bred on?
I read plumbers aligator was rolled against dumdum to prove his worth, sounded like a good dog and looked like a large beast from the photos in the first stratton book.......

I think I remember some of Land of The Giants dogs come down from DumDum. Most of his dogs are used for PP.

this is a passage from the story of alligator ch por bis.
In their quest for perfection, they made a request to use Trussell’s Dum Dum dog to see if Alligator was truly game. Dummy you see was a game dog that was even bigger than Alligator. It seems that in that day and time any dog from a cross, scatter bred or real rough were suspect of being a cur, so they did everything they could to stop Alligator. When they got to Trussell’s they ran Alligator on the tread mill for one half hour then fifteen minutes road work to cool him down, then to the roll pit, where he went over half an hour with the larger Dum Dum dog. It was nip and tuck and Alligator went across when he shouldn’t have on wobbly legs. This roll turned out to be a pretty good game test for Dum Dum too. When asked how it turned out, Trussell said, "The black dog gave Dummy everything he wanted."

you said it,i guess it must of been hard to find like sized dogs to match against such a beast,i believe it said 85 pounds in"this is the american pitbull terrier".He seemed to have some stratton bred dogs in his pedigree, possably why he was featured in the book? i do remember there also being a 95 pound dog in the book although i cant refrence it since i sold it with a whole load of other fighting dog books,a bad desicion really but a sign of the times.
I believe the other dog was bred by busamay[sp],cant remember the spelling of the name but he was also large to say the least.

barracuda was 75 pound chain weight i believe, and thats probably 90% better condition "on the chain" than your average slobish house pet.

I've looked for info on Dum Dum before but about all I ever found was they rolled Alligator into him, that's about it.He crops up way back in a few peds but not much info out there on him I'm afraid.

Oh well, thats a shame, interesting dog,not to much use for a huge bulldog like that i guess without enough similar sized dogs, alligator had to go quite a few pounds up hill against him as well i figure.I believe that the 80/85 pounds was conditioned? He looked it from the photos at least, showed a lot of rib, just a big Ole dog.
I know theres rumors of dogs being culled just on size alone, but if the dog was a talented dog as dummy seemed i see little reason for culling a large talented dog, even if he was used in other areas of sport/work due to his size being to large for matching.I wonder if he was rolled any other times, guess it'll remain a mystery.
