Exercising you pitt?

Discussion in 'Health & Nutrition' started by PittBullXGrrrr, Nov 18, 2004.

  1. I have a 6 month old pitt that I have been putting weight on and run him, walk him,let him run in my back yard.IS there any other type of exercises that I can do to build up his muscle and get him cut up?Or will it come with age?Been reading a few books and then say that you are to let them run and or exercise alot.I have been thinking about a treadmill down the road but not sure if that would be the best for him.Feed back and other info or whatever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

6 months old just let him be a pup for a little longer, worry about all that in a few months!

I would keep the weight off him at this point. I would just take him on long walks/runs and let him play like puppy's do. At 10 months I would start to add a little weight if you want.

I agree with the above posts. DO NOT add any weight to exercise pups until they are at least 9 mnths old. Let him be a pup. Walk him, a lot & when you think you're done walk him some more. The long walks not only develop him physically it does wonders for his relationship with you.

Good advice, also see if the dog likes water .If so let him go swimming some.My oldest male loves the water and it has done great for his muscles.

I guess it's just my luck, but I've always had an easier time getting the bitches swimming. I don't know why. I've got a young girl almost 9 mnths right now that will chase a ball on land or water all day long. She just loves to work! Flirtpole springpole, tug, run, walk, or swim. I can't wait to see her blossom.
