Basically I am getting ready to do a fresh search for info , and think i can figure something out for most of the setup, but am open to suggestions.

My biggest concern is what can i make for the dog to latch onto, I would like to use something that is easy on the dogs mouth like my "KONG" rubber frisbee, he can latch onto that and it seems to be perfect for him.. But on the other hand I need the mouth peice to be reasonably cheap and easy to replace.

other than that I get the idea that I can come upwith something like...

Rope---Spring---Rope ---Whatever he will bite onto at the end of the rope

    thanks

P.S. I intend for his back legs to be able to touch the ground most of the time

either a piece of hide if u can find it, or a rope toy type thing will work good. Another option that is easy on the mouth is a rubber tire from maybe a dirtbike

i used to lash a collar around our swingset frame, loop some interubes through that, and tie the rope onto that. worked great for the puppy.

then i decided to do away with it, and stuck with tug of war.

i tied a towel around the end of the rope and it dangled low enough to touch the ground so she just shredded the towel pulling on it.

here's my jrt on it when it was up out back.

I use rope tied to a branch, rope tied to an old garage door spring, with another rope tied to the end of the spring and attached to a rope toy.

Some folks use cow hide with a drilled hole in it with a rope attached, or a rope toy, and nowadays alot of folks using those fire hose toys. I like using springs instead of innertubes and stuff cause that spring really snaps back and drives my dogs nuts.

Just remember to make sure your dogs back legs are firmly planted on the ground.

    Here's my setup.

We use a burlap tug that I picked up at the last Missouri ADBA show in Sedalia.
