Just when I say theres not really a threat of laws against what we do here in Florida it slaps me in the face. Now the county that I live in is trying to pass a law that NO dogs can be chained out at all. They want us to keep them in a 10x10 pen. The way I see it is, most of our dogs are on 8 to 10 foot chain outs. If you put them in a 10x10 kennel then you are taking away close to 1/2 of their running space. They have no walls now, just a chain. For 99.9% of the dogs, its all they've ever known.. I could understand a law that made it manditory to have proper chain outs, with the right swivels, rings, collars and so forth but these people are presenting pics of dogs on (Wal-Mart) cables who have hung themselves because of neglect on the owners side. Its not the chain or cable that does it. Its the dogs being in the position to harm themselves next to fences and low lying barricades that could be easily avoided. These f**king idiots are ruining everything. The sad truth is no matter how hard we fight, dumb asses are still going to get ahold of our breed and exploit it to no end. At the end of the day the only people owning the APBT are going to be outlaws. Just like automatic weapons. We're not supposed to have em...but we do. There is a sad day approaching rapidly...Good people will be forced to break the law because of dumb ass thugs, retarded backwoods idiots and ghetto trash who dont know the difference in a Pit Bull and a Boston Terrier. I say we round em all up and have THEM put to sleep. Im sure Ive jumped WAYYYY over the line here and you know what??? I couldnt give a bigger F*CK!! This breed of dog is the best thing thats ever happened to the K9 world. Nothing even comes close. So what do we do now? Its like pissing up a rope ya know?...I guess I'll just keep on fighting until theres nothing left to fight for...At least I know I tried...YIS. David.

We are. They've been having meetings downtown but it hasnt come to a vote YET. At the meetings each person gets 3 minutes to state their side. Theres another one in two weeks and dont think we're not getting the word out. I know of several dog-men here in town that knew about the last meeting and didnt attend but I dont think they knew the seriousness of the outcome. My dog yards in the woods but still, planes and helicopters are not just for the military anymore. They're looking for ANYTHING they can find. YIS. D.

Yea man, they are after the breed not the chains. They are trying to pick you apart little by little.Look at California they start small and hope nobody takes it serious. And before you know it you have no rights.

What have you done so far?I can Guarentee the HSUS is working every day to make this pass.If you're not then you will be behind. After this passes then they will draw alot of attention to "pitbull" attacks. Then with that fresh on everyones mind they will start trying for pittbull banns in certain areas and grow outward from there.Better stay on it before it gets you in the ass.Don't put it off.

We're not puting anything off. Theres one woman trying to start sh!t and shes the only one raising such a stink about the whole thing. She runs a pet sitting service out of Orange Park. They've had one meeting about it this passed Tuesday and they'll be having another one in a week. I talked to someone who just had to fight off a similar law in Marion county. Dont worry man, we're not gonna stand by and watch...I mean we couldnt if we wanted to. We've got alot of dogs at stake here...

Yeah I was glad TG came out and spoke against banning chaining around my local area at the town hal when they were trying to outlaw any type of tethering.

Outlawing tethering is a back door way to get, if not BSL then to get rid of a lot of working dogs. And keep in mind. Working dogs are at the very top of PETA's hit list.

Lots of different types of working dogs are tethered. Racing Huskies spring to mind as one example.

If you have very high energy animals that are difficult to keep other than tethering and you outlaw tethering, then its going to be much harder to have the animals in question. And that's the whole idea.

Im not sure if this would be considered BSL. They're talking about all dogs. No dog will be allowed to be chained up...PERIOD. Here is the link to the story.. http://www.significantblog.com/?p=3991 Here is the link to Doug Conkey, the man in charge of spear-heading the passing of the anti-tethering law. http://www.claycountygov.com/BCC/Commissioners/District2.htm Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. The ultimate goal is no animal usage. They are trying to ban anyone from having working dogs first. They work one little step at a time.Starting were they think it will draw the least attention. They know most dogs on chains are working dogs and almost all APBTs stay on chains. They are sneaky and pretty much brainwash people into believing them. Its not whoever is pulling for the ban, the HSUS is behind them.

Here is what the dumb bitch is trying to tell everyone.

"When constant tethering isn’t fatal it can often be an end to a dog’s temperament, Thompson-Poirrier said.
Jacksonville dog trainer and retired Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jim Crosby said the impact potentially can go beyond the individual animal.

Crosby, who investigates fatal dog attacks, said about a quarter of such incidents involve an animal that was either tethered or had a history of being tied up.

Jacksonville allows the tethering of animals, so long as the chain meets requirements on length and weight, according to its animal control ordinances. The dog also has to have access to shelter, food and water."

As you know, I was at this meeting and its VERY serious. These folks who are talking against us are from a place that NONE of us live. They live near tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse in their fantasy world. Please EVERYONE e-mail Doug Conkey expressing your opinions. Doug.Conkey@co.clay.fl.us <Doug.Conkey@co.clay.fl.us> I spoke my 3 minutes and was probably quite rude to the woman starting the whole thing but thats just me. We all need to stick together or you guys will probably be next. YIS, J.

I will be printing this out and presenting it at the next Commissioners meeting in August. Thanks to everyone who is taking the time to drop an e-mail or comment. If you e-amil Doug Conkey, Doug.Conkey@co.clay.fl.us please keep it civil. I recieved a reply from him this morning and he seems to be a fair man. Thanks again! YIS, D.
