    Your child or your puppy?

    Who's more important?

    There's your answer.

it sounds like a bad deal. kids would make it pretty a simple decision for me. no child is worth the risk, otherwise id be tempted to try to "fix" the problem

any manbiter in this breed should be put down, no questions asked.

  6. I agree....kid or not...that to me just is not even a question that should be asked....you should know the answer!

Cull it....before you dont have a child!
And then we too all suffer from once again...owner irresponsibility!

I guess I dont have a clear picture of the situation. Deffinatly a handling issue....please provide more info on the dog.

I will, have and can cull a dog in second....I dont loose sleep over it. However when your talking about doing the "right" thing and your looking at getting a new pup that doesnt make any sense. Have you considered your role in your current dogs behavour?

You have to look at the source of the problem and if you buy into the manbiter bit with out the propper evaluation. You will follow the sam path with the next dog

Have you tried a trainer in your area? Proffesional help may be what you need....Not the internet.

Anyone that sends this guy an ad via pm for pups for sale is a fool! I wouldn't give this guy a rat to play with!

ok well first off simms im not into this whole put down people and running your mouth on the internet when people ask questions. (which happens quite a bit on this site) i asked the question because this what is happening with my dog. number one it is not def. a handling issue i have raised the dog in the correct manner. matter of fact boss is my second one and my first girl was a angel. second i just cant "cur" a dog these are my pets and i care for them. they are not for gameness or breeding or any of that these are my pets. yes the right thing i dont wont the dog to snap and bite anyone def not my son trying do the right thing and not be that guy that saw it comin and did nothing about it . And yes another dog i have had dogs since i was a kid and want them in my life. I not gonna put my dog to sleep because 4 people on the net told me to just getting some opinions on the situation. And as far as the whole ad to me for a dog makes people a fool and you woundnt give me a rat com'on guy get a life do you feel cool now. WHAT A JOKE

Could we get some additional info? When was the last time he was checked. The reason I asked is a buddy had a sim prob with his dog. Anytime you got close to his head / neck, he would try to bite ya. I watched him for awhile and I noticed his ears. He had an ear infection....I guess a pretty serious one. After a few rounds of antib. he was good as new. Never did it again. I have even heard of tooth infections causing sim prob. Have his WBC's checked ( white blood cells ). If he checks out fine and maybe he is just comming of age. There is nothing more important to me than the safety of my family as it is prob the same for you. I know of some security companies that utilize dogs with this temperment. From what I have learned they have it pretty good. Its never an easy decision to put down a pet but maybe there is an alt solution. If I can be of any help drop me a line. good luck.

he was at the vet about two months ago i'll bring him again to get a full physical. other than this one thing he is perfectly fine. I mean perfect. What about his white blood cells could cause a prob. Coming of age what to you mean ( starting to get aggresive) i know around a year this starts he will 11 months this month.

Kanediggity i hope you are right can you shoot me some suggestions. what do you do as far as training. thank you.

Oh yeh thanks for the offer.

no slip lead or harsh treatment i promise that, its just alot of not letting him get away with anything (at all) if you do those tings and stay consistent you will end up with a great pet.

Wbc is an indicator of something wrong inside. If he had an inner ear infection it would cause an increase of wbc to attack the infection....along with balance problems. If he checked out fine then I wouldn't worry about it. I just thought I would send it your way cuz something simular happened to my friends dog. I just read your last reply. I thought he did this all the time.

It's not wierd. he's challenging your position, you need to change the game. The dog's position needs to be established, he needs to learn his place....an that is as the dog.

You need a crate and do not leave that dog unsupervised.
Your child needs to learn to respect all animals esp if they are in your house.

I dont advocate a dog that bites and definatly do not risk the well being of your child. This sounds as if this can be corrected....

Does anyone have the link for NILF?

i use slip leads daily and all day. used correctly they are affective.
