Update..and the whole story for those who didn't know

So here is what happened(pasted from when I posted it in another forum)



So at about 4:30 this afternoon I was outside...Dante was on a leash because before we went out I noticed that there were a few strays out. Well I had him on the 16 foot leash. I was standing against a tree and Dante was pooping when I saw this kid with a pellet gun. He was shooting at Dante. I guess he thought that Dante was just on a tie out because from where he was he couldn't see me. Well Dante yelped really loud and ran towards me with that "momma please help" look on his face. So I looked and his leg was bleeding. I immediately went over to the kid,snatched the gun out of his hand and hit him with it. Then I took it in the house with me. The kid was about 13. So now I have to go to court for simple battery and that kid gets a "well don't do it again". What the hell? I am soooo pissed. This is the same kid who shot my cat 4 times through the window screen. I shouldn't have hit him but Dante is my homie. When I saw him bleeding I just felt the rage building. The kid's dad said that he has a bruise over the right side of his face. So what? My dog had to go to the vet. It pisses me off that natural selection doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to. I mean what happened to culling the dumb ones?...I know that was mean but I'm pissed.So we just got back from the vet to remove the pellet from Dante's back leg. Poor guy. He is now in my bed asleep. Here is what it looked like when we got home. He took the bandages off like I knew he would.




This is the same kid who shot my cat 4 times through the screen while my cat was inside. He makes threats all the time to burn my house down. He is homeschooled so he is all day. He was outside yesterday calling me a wagon burner because I wouldn't let their horse in my yard. We have moles and when the horse comes in the yard in makes holes. It makes it very difficult to cut the grass.

This kid is about a foot taller than me and outweighs me by about 60 pounds. He is not a baby and knew exactly what he did. They hated us since the day we moved here. My yard is 3 1/2 acres so before we bought it in 2001 it was just a big field. They used to ride 4 wheelers and let the horse graze but this is MY yard now. The kid's grandfather used to breed chickens and geese. When I met him he was 82. He could hardly walk so I would go every morning and feed his animals. Well he died at 86. His grandchildren never even went to his house and it was in their back yard. So when he passed he left me his chickens and all their cages.Strange as it might seem....he loved those chickens and in his last few years they were all he had. I would go there and wash his clothes because no one else would. I'm sure they are bitter because of it.

June 30,2008

Dante's leg is healing good. I took him back to the vet thismorning because there was white stuff coming out but the vet said as long as it isn't yellow,green,or smelly its fine. He said that's his white blood cells doing their job.



The kid's parents have grounded him. From what the mom told me,he isn't allowed to have contact with me or anyone living in my house.He is homeschooled and now he can't have any friends over til after 3 pm. When before there were kids there all day and the woman only has 3 kids. Like I said.....they were gone all weekend but I think the older brother stayed home. I can't prove it was them but I am missing a rabbit. A black and white lop that was about a month old was gone thismorning. And it could totally be some animal but with all this going on I wouldn't be surprised if it were him. But I have no proof so I will just think that maybe a very hungry coyote opened the cage door and very neatly grabbed the bunny leaving to signs of a struggle and closed it back......


and the court date is July 7th



ok this is getting WAY out of hand. I just found 2 of my chickens dead and the others acting strange. I called the sheriff imediately and they are their way here. I took pics but was instructed by my lawyer just to give them directly to the sheriff's deputy. I didn't touch the chickens yet. I want the deputy to see them exactly how and where I found them. I'm trying to get the court date moved up so we can do this sooner. I've had enough. I still have the pics on my memory card so I'll try to post them but my laywer advised me not to.




I've loaded the 45 auto and put it where I'll be able to get to it quick just in case. I can't get a video with sound because the court would throw it out. The only video camera I have it my sony cyber shot and it only takes 2 minute videos. But I have been going out there every few minutes with my camera.


The sheriff told me that they will patrol my street everynight until the court date. I'm thinking now that I should have beat the little bastard when I had the chance. I don't want to do anything now that would go against me so I will just let them prove me right.

June 30th 3:38 pm


I just checked and now 4 chickens are dead and the others aren't looking so hot. So now I have 5 chickens in my bathroon and I got the deputy to help me move the rabbit hutch right next to my house. I've been taking Dante out on a leash even in the yard. And I take MY gun with me and the camera. I'm not messing around anymore......I should not be afraid in my own home and I WILL NOT let this kid make me feel that way. Something tragic happened to me when I was 16 and I swore to myself that I would never let myself be a victim EVER again



The chickens were not bloody or anything. The deputy says they look like they'd been poisoned. The others are not acting as weird as they were before. I gave them water and now they all have the runs so maybe they ate what the others did but not as much. Our alarm wasn't connected but my dad came and fixed it. The BF took off tonight for me. And Kylie is spending the night with my mom. First thing in the morning I am going to try and get a peace bond or restraining order. They are now stalking me on myspace. Well I think it's the mom. She has been trying to talk me out of pressing charges. I'm not backing down. The kid went WAY too far and I will not feel like a prisoner in my own home.


July 1st

so the chickens are being tested. One of them smelled very strongly of gasoline. So I am waiting for the call right now. The others are eating fine as of now. The rabbits are good also.

on a better note....the kid came over and apologized and told me that his mom will pay the vet bill and take the charge for what he did. He said that his dad told him that animals only feel pain for 7 seconds so he didn't think it was a big deal. I explained to him that I am very hurt and upset by all this crap. I told him about the bunny and the chickens and he swore it wasn't him but says it could have been his brother and that if it was he would spend the money he earned cutting grass to buy me another rabbit and some chickens. Not sure if he was serious or just trying to save his ass but at this point I think its the older brother I have to worry about. And I'm wondering if the brother didn't talk him in to shooting Dante. I know some people will get younger kids to do things because they are minors and won't get it as bad as someone over 18. the brother is 19. all their kids are kind of dumb. I know its wrong to say but the daughter thought that rabbits hatched from eggs up until about 7 months ago when I let her watch one of my momma rabbits give birth.the mom came over and I told her that it would be best if they not come here that the next I will see them is in court.


July 2nd

they have left us alone now. But The brother was up playing his guitar at like 2 am in his back yard just to piss me off.


Today...July 7th

So I went to court today(thought the 7th was tomorrow..lol..)


They threw that little ****** in Juvenile Detention until he is 18. He was being very rude to the judge. Cursing,he lied 17 times in 20 minutes....then admitted he lied.He even called the judge an a**hole. When asked why he shot dante he said that Dante looked at him and growled...so he shot him. He said that Dante is vicious and attacks anything and anyone he comes in contact with EVEN me and if they needed proof,just to get Dante in there. Well I guess he thought they wouldn’t do that. They wanted to see Dante so I had to call my mom and get her to bring him to court. He wanted to lick everyone....the judge came down and walked up to Dante.Dante got on his back and was licking the judge’s hands. He had to wash them before we continued. He made a GREAT impression on the judge and everyone else. So they knew the kid was lying. The kids parents now have to pay for the vet bills and they have to buy me more chickens and a bunny. I could have gotten them for emotional distress but did not. Now if the brother is caught within 100 yards of me,my dog,my house,or any animals in my yard he gets automatic 6 months in jail.

they said that my actions were justified because,like a few people already stated, there was no way to be sure the gun was a rifle,pellet gun,or other firearm and I had reported the kid shooting one of my animals before so I was defending my dog. I was very polite & answered all his questions intelligently. When they were done with Dante,my mom handed me the leash and Dante just layed behind the podium(sp?) at my feet until we were done. I didn't take out any of my piercings and was still taken seriously.

 

Glad things worked out the way they did. That could have been a much worse situation. Continue to keep your eyes and ears open to make sure there is no retailiation.

 

of course! I have let them get away with so much. but not anymore...

 

I'm sorry you had to go through so much, but I'm glad you came out on top! In other communities you would not have been so lucky.

 

u should have aired the little bastard out ASAP, shoot first ask questions last, if someone points a gun at me and im not 100% certain that its fake, they better use it or im using mine, same goes for any of my animals. I'm glad things worked out for u, just keep a watchful eyes on those piece of white trash scumbags, i highly doubt this will be the end of ur troubles with these people, keep the 45 locked and loaded

 

see...he didn't get locked up JUST for what he did to my animals. Here we have a system for minors. They get 3 strikes and then they go to juvenile detention. This was his 3rd strike.

 

Good for you, and I am so sorry for Dante, but proud of him as well as a fellow pitbull owner. He did the breed proud and I'm glad that for once justice was served.


The kid sounds like a psychopath, I'd try to get away from that family if I could.

 

I also suggested to his mother to get him counceling.....I don't want a future Jeffery Dahmer in my town.

 

Sounds as if you handled the situation vary well. I dont want to say what i'd of did to the little bastard......Realy, I don't know what I'd have done. But I do know that I would have made the situation alot worse for my own self. Good Job. I hope you dont have on going problems with the family. Big Game

 

THAT WAS A VERY INTERESTING STORY WITH A VERY INTERESTING OUTCOME. I'm glad the kid was taken out for a while and glad things tunred out good for you. It could have been worse for you, because of hitting the kid, but justice prevailed. Sometimes the law works on our side.
The APBT side.....Hopefully they won't bother you anymore cause first, if they were mine, they would have had been put away a long time ago, but second, the family probably don't want to have to fork out anymore money. Stay alert anyway, some people, you never know...(shaking head.)
