following Stillwater's directions i made a few parting sticks today. I took some pictures along the way to help anyone else out who may be attempting to make some.:)

    origional post by stillwater:
however as you can see by the pictures I did things the old fashioned way(without power tools) and it didnt hardly take any time. The File made short work of the poly board and I think did a real nice job. It fits great!

Looks good! I'm going to have to try that sometime. Husband's the tool man, and I never thought to ask him if we've got something we can use to cut a cutting board.

all you really need is a hand saw and file:)

I've got a hand saw, but it sucks. It was a freebie when I went and took this class about buying houses or some such crap. I was thinking more along the lines of the husband using his circular saw. LOL! No file, though. That's what the dremel is for. :D

  10. Nice work! I need to try and make one:)

I use to make those type of poly sticks using one of those cutting boards around 7 years ago the main thing too look for is the thickness as those cheap skinny poly cutting boards wont hold up for very long but the thick ones will last pretty long but it will cost more. For me I just rather buy hammer handles at around 3-4 bucks file the tip down and ya good to go lol.

Thats what I use too, haven't snapped one yet.....got a few that are a tad worn but still work none the less.

Simple and easy looks good and functional, I think you need to work on your hand grip strength a bit more! That is if your intention is to squeeze the life out of it everytime you hold it :D

Oh yeah here is how you do the test to make sure your poly stick is thick and strong enough....If ya can bend that poly stick in half with your bare hands it aint strong enough LOL.

Another down fall with those cutting board poly sticks is if ya use it alot it tends to get all jaggedy and you will need to sand and file those pieces off very often.

  20. those are nice. looks like it takes some time to make them. i just use the hammer handles myself. with a saw and belt sander it takes me about 5 minutes a piece to make one. easy enough.
