I think it depends on what kind of biter you have
a plain old nasty dont like nobody and has to have his food tossed to him/her
    yeah put it down

but if its a dog that trys to get strangers thats in the yard while the owner is not around but calms down and is able to be approached by strangers as long as the owner is there is a keeper

then you have the ones the is not biteing out of anger or fear but nips at your clothes in order to keep you from leaving the area and play a little longer
sometime nicking you is a keeper

then theres the fear biter he so scared that he will bite if you invade his space
if you get bit by this one its more than likely your fault because this dog probly ran from you in the first place

so yeah in some cases it genitic like the fear biter and the one tha hates everyone

but the other two are just dogs being dogs

My boy and I were just havin this same convo about man biters...he has a MEAN NASTY bitch that will bite anything any anyone except for him. She will scratch into a person with no problem

He loves the dogs attitude and likes how mean and nasty she is....he even wants to breed her and keep the pups that act like her. I tell him he is a dumbass but to each his own i guess.

FYI the bitch is Alligator/Mayfield blood for the most part. Shes about the most evil thing ive ever seen and I hope she gets lost in a "accident" LOL

I'd have to agree that human aggression could come from either nature or nurture. But I also consider it two entirely different things for a dog being protective and it being just outright aggressive towards people. I wouldn't even own an aggressive dog, it would be put down ASAP. One of my dogs right now is protective, and a little nervy, but I have never once been nervous or scared for myself with him. I do take precautions with him, though.

well this is the mentality of what has caused a great down fall with the breed. this type of thing should be culled out period.

woody & cutt, agreed.........dirt naps for man biters period.
unfortunatly these days it just aint going to happen with the likes of people above, as stated they are intending on breeding for it. thus the demmize and destruction of what was once a great reputable breed.

i ain't never had to put one down because of HA. they just got handled different. i can look past any faults if it's a "good" dog. it all come down to what you can live with & what you can't.

seems to be a shittie thing to do, not what someone would want to be known for.

There is a difference between a dog that is a manbiter and one that is just keyed up and requires special handling .

I don't have a use for manbiters with in the APBT. But I do know alot of folks that have succesfully kept and maintained this type of disposition with out any issues. In otherwords I am not going to fault some one for keeping an animal like that. Esp if they can do so with out any issues.

  13. I currently own a 3 yr old RedBoy male who is a little off but he came 2 very sound family dogs. I been thinking his near death experience with parvo may have affected him mentally. Maybe.

in regaurds to what i said, i don't have a problem with them if you keep them to your self period. thats as far as they go, but if i was on the recieving end of someone elses, it would be taking a nap regaurdless.
i just think there is enough good ones to be had without keeping one like that. and the more like that we keep out of breeding programs the better the breed can be. arent people supposed to be improving? well as i see it, this would be one real good start.

Yes, I beleive that if you breed you should breed to standard.

no exceptions.....In the past 20+ yrs our family has raised several litters and studied behavior patterns closely, due to the fact that there were alot of kids in the fam. nieces nephews, daughters, grand babys, etc... human agression, nor agression towards strangers was not tolerated..0 tolerance, if they sought out, culled immediately...Folks would steal frm a yard full of dogs, like adult dogs, tools, water hoses...They were bred to hunt hogs yet love strangers, people, kids, having 3 houses on the property with kids galore, agression toward human were eliminated.NO EXCEPTION. NO AGE LIMIT...
