im half to blame for ruining my dog, i think it was starting him with to big a pack where he must have felt he was the top dog he finally snapped and was trying to take on any one of the other dogs that got in his reach,
lucky for breaking sticks.... by the way he was only 10 months when he lost it.

There are so many ways....going to the woods too early, staying in the woods too long, in preparation for hunting....not a sufficient feed given, lack of water and lack of proper rest!

if you dont have the right up bringing in these dogs it will keep happening . you wouldn't try to build a nascar engine after watching the speed network. would you? all the best teachers went to college before they went to work in the field. You try to jump straight in there it will bite you in ur ass down the road.

too young. and too much for too long. And other people talking will make a newbee ruin a good one fast. I have seen way too maney dogs ruined at 12 or 15 months over words. They are flesh and bone just like you. take them hunting un healed or to the woods to much they will all on the right day quit.

Well to me the biggest mistake is human expectation and not really knowing or learning the different attributions of the line or individual dogs, and to understand that no two are the same.

while we are on the patience subject. What can I do when Pluto is going Bezzerk because he sees another dog on the street? I tried the Cesar Milan pull to get him to stop focusing but it doesnt work lol:) Or sometimes I give him a tap with my fingers where his waist meets his back legs to snap him off the focus. Basically what I am trying to ask if what not to do which will make it worse for the dog because now I know it is natural for him to do that.

    nothing.

let your dog be what it is.

    don't extinguish their natural flame.

edit - just make sure you can manage your dog, and don't put yourself in a situation to make the news.

I have a good collar and leash so he is not going anywhere but sometimes I feel like people are looking at me like I beat my dog or fight him or something. You see my dog growling and barking trying to cross the nice quiet street to get to the other dog and I am just trying to pull him back and tell him to stop.:(

lots of people ruin dogs as was stated by starting the hunt too early. i guess from my experience the other would be letting them hunt too long. lots of good dogs go out that way.

Read the dog's body language and act accordingly and responsibly. Always carry a breakstick. You should be able to see other dogs on the street way before they even approach. If you need to cross to the other side of the street, do it.
