Actually, quite interesting! How do you think they are able to progress with medical research involving surgical techniques? They have to use live, non human subjects to test and perfect the methods.

Just like most don't think about where the food eat comes from, most people don't appreciate the years of research, money and training needed to develop these advances. It can take over 10 years to bring a new drug to market. It would take much longer, new drugs would be even more expensive and more people would die in the meantime without access to to the use of animals in research.

Well, you're certainly right about that. There's a lot out there that improves, and supports, our health and quality of life. And the animals that made it happen sure didn't commit suicide. Some call it inhumane, others say its grotesque, but at the end of the day, one animal always nurtures and support another, either directly or indirectly. Lions eat gazelles and continue living. We have a cerebral cortex and a consciousness, and what we do is no different. I say, as long as the research/test subjects in question are given good, clean humane quarters to live in, test on.

I might not wear fur, but I do like steak and good antibiotics. And I'm glad I can have those things. I say, when I die, let the vultures pick my bones.

I don't disagree with the medical advances that are made through this type of research but this story brings frankenstien to life in a way wich is the disturbing part! LOL!
