Our 12yr took Lexus(51/2mo.pit) a walk today on our dead end semi rural rd. No traffic and they came upon a "little yapper" named tinker bell she was tied and she charged Lexus ( my biggest fear) lexus hit the ground with her tail between her legs and scott said her whole back end was flat on the road..then she bolted up to our house and straight to me. Scott said she didn't bark, growl she acted terrified of this little snot. Then he took our pug mixed with ?? Izzy the same route and she nailed tinks.. so any ideas why Lexus would have backed down so oddly and then run like hell if must say to me and when she got to she was panic stricken and didn't leave me side for about 45 min. It really upset Scott because of how she dropped her back end .. any suggestion area greatly appreciated.. Jojo

get rid of your dog and dont get another pitbull

it was real irrisponsible to let a 12yr old take the dog and tryn instagate a fight on a smaller dog

lets be for real if your little pit pup would have hit the lil dog and somebody seen and called the cops you would add fuel to the fire

just be happy and let your dog be a puppy

P.S. Nobody uses there gamedogs to bully mutts, cats, people,or anything
Im the one that runs them off not my dog

Your first mistake was letting a 12 year old walk a pit bull alone. When the little dog charged, whatever emotion your 12 year old felt, that went straight down the leash to your dog. You are lucky it was not a bigger, possibly more aggressive dog. Please make sure an adult is with your child the next time.

So, you went back and got another dog to bully the smaller one?

You, as the adult, need to walk your dogs. Take responsibility and don't set your dogs up to fail. Also, set the positive example for your 12 year old.

Take it easy Frank, it doesnt sound like anybody tried to instigate a fight here.
Small dog charges the pup and it turns tail and runs, so the real question here is.

    1) Why was the dog not on a lead?
    2) If the dog was on a lead, is the kid able to handle the dog properly in these situations

You have to answer these questions yourself, your are responsible for both kid and dog.

If it went the other way and the pup mauled the little yapper what would have happened then?

If the dog got a smack of a car as it ran away what would the outcome have been then?

Its all a matter of responsibility.

I am not getting on your back, it just shouldnt happen like this if all precautions are taken.

Now why int he world would you let a 12 year old walk a dog? Come on now Please don't think Im tring to start a arguement but it sounds as if want to see if your pit has gameness or not and like michele said dogs graviate to your mood and emotions and that goes to the dog and you shouldv'e been out tere watching your child and your dog could you imagine having your dog stirke at the little dog the situation could've been critical espeically with a 12 year old and your gona let the dog or whom ever bully a dog again whatever the dog is it would've been wise for you to use ''common sense of this situation of yours'' because this all couldve been avoided easily if you used common sense

It acutally makes you look really irresponsible as a APBT owneralone precatuions have to be made and taken this could've ben a whole lot worst

Ok.. hold on here.. first we did not instigate any fight first trip or second trip. let me explain. 1st trip: Lexus was on a tight lead right next to scott . the dog tinker bell was in the yard on a lead across the rd. she started barking lexus hit the ground there was no confrontation. .Scott wasn't trying to see if lexus was aggressive, he was merely walking her on the opposite side of the road to spend some time with her. (what do you all think that i"m raising 2 thug boys..and i tell them hey we have a pit lets go bully the neighbors.. I'm on here learning everything I can possibly learn to make sure this crap doesn't happen i didn't feel that i had to keep my dog behind lock and key.) I'm so upset right I can't even type my thoughts.... when the other dog started barking that is when lexus hit the ground and wanted to come home. nothing else transpired scott brought her straight to me and told me what happen. Trip 2 took place an hr later there are more dogs on the upper end of our street than the lower end we have been walking izzy who is the pug mixed with terrior i think for the past 7yrs on a freakn leash. Scott looked out to see if the dog was out and she wasn't so he started to walk again on the oppsite side of the road. this time the owner opened the door to go get the mail and the dog charged out the front door. what did you want my son to do.. he yanked on the lead and tried to kick the dog away ..the owner came over and picked her dog up. I'm not irresponsible no one was bullying anyone. My opinion Scott did the right thing he had control, he didn't show he was scared and he protected both dogs. he came straight home and told me what happened I'm sorry that I ever posted my question not because of all the smack that I'm getting but because you all don't know me or my family. I was concerned for the way lexus reacted to the barking of the other dog.. I have no idea where or what she came from if she was abused or not,we saved her from starvation or being shot. she has not once snapped at the kids, or even barked .. I don't know what else to say.. :(

I,ve never seen a 5 1/2 month old APBT tuck its tail but some dogs are different and will "turn on" at different ages, some later than others. My dogs usually will not show any sign of concern when I walk them and chained dogs are barking in an attempt to attack, unless a loose dog comes near us but half the time they keep their distance. Just let the puppy be a puppy and keep it socialized, it's all for the best o this great breed. :D

Lexus just sounds like a nervy pup to me...but that IS something to watch out for in future because nervous dogs will fight out of fear when it thinks it has no choice or even attack if its afraid.

I hope your pup never turns on, like others have said enjoy your pup be responsible and learn by the experience.

apparently you didn't read the reply to all the criticism. take a look at post #9.

To the few that actually responded to my question took up for me in some way Thank You!!:) Lexus is getting very spoiled,Lexus has found that she prefers the warm massaging recliner over the couch.

yeah i see now how it reads, and when i initially posted it I had 3kids 2dogs and 3 cats running thru the house when i did the first post and i was upset that it happened i was more concerned about Lexus reaction then the whole mess.(i should've waited and did it later) I just wanted to make sure she was ok. Not knowing her history worries me, but I couldn't have her starved or shot. she's something.. right now I know she is a pup but she's a very loving and affectionate dog. She is with the kids like a watch dog and she has a different bark for them, scarlett my our 3 yr old was climing over the fence and Lexus started her bark and came up to the back slider and looked in and ran to scarlett like "look mom":) I'll be honest y'all are brutal.. scared to ask anything.. lol

the way you worded the story is the cause of the responses you recieved

and I take the first story to be truth

remember your kid was so hurt at the fact your lil pup bolted back to the house
so he came and got the pug mix and when the lil dog came back out the lil pug mix nailed it

if thats what your son is into then he should stick with the pug mix seems to be some hot lil dogs
cause my dogs love my lil five pound toy dog
they even let him chew on them
not every dog is a crazy dog

JOJO, you mention that the second walk happened an hour later and that the little vicious dog tinker bell wasn't out. Then all of the sudden at the same time your son gets near this home, the owner of tinker bell comes out to get the mail and the little mutt comes charging out again. I find that hard to believe.

Like FrankDublin mentions, I believe the first story to be true and the second to be made-up because of the responses you got.

    Please be more responsible.

Don't be afraid to ask a question. People are just passionate about the breed. Since there's so much negativity with regard to the breed, there really is no room for mistakes. Just read, learn and apply to your own household. :)

There is also a ton of information on my forum, should you care to read there too:

Alright this is her son the one who brought the dog home.
I think you all should chill the hell out i mean your however many miles away from us so you dont know what exactly happened. My brother didnt instigate a fight period he doesnt like fighting when it comes to anything. And idk where you ppl can come off saying someones irresponsible when you dont know shit about them. I mean get real he walked the dog down the road and this little ordeal happened you know what it happens all the time so get over it. My mom just asked you ppl a question and you gotta turn into a bunch of keyboard warriors. And whoever the hell FRANKDUBLIN is you can go fly a damn kite! So before you ppl start running your mouths and assuming things why dont you figure out the situation first. This why i dont waste my time on these stupid forums cause there's flakers, fakes, and ppl who just talk alot of shit.
