FL Brothers 10 and 12 accused in Orange dog fighting case

When a deputy responded to a call about dog fighting at an Orange County home Wednesday, he found several emaciated, injured dogs, and one dead canine that had been cut open.

A brown puppy — dehydrated and covered in fleas — ran outside the front door. As the deputy stood nearby, one of the suspects grabbed the puppy by its neck and struck it in the head several times with closed fists.

The suspects: 10- and 12-year-old brothers.

The boys, whom the Orlando Sentinel is not identifying because they are minors, were both arrested on charges of cruelty to animals and fighting and baiting animals.

An Animal Services employee said she has been to the same home for dog fighting numerous times prior, according to records released by the Orange County Sheriff's Office records.

The Sheriff's Office report details the grave conditions uncovered by a deputy after he arrived at the home on Huppel Avenue.

A nearby witness told the deputy he found a dead pit bull on his property, and he told the boys they couldn't throw their dead dog there. He later saw the boys dig a shallow grave for the dog.

In the backyard of the boys' home, the deputy immediately smelled the strong odor of dog feces. Two dogs were caged.

One pit bull was spray painted and had wounds on its face, nose and legs. Another dog was sitting in its own feces and had a severe bite mark to its front paw and ears. Both dogs were under fed.

The cage had no appropriate cover from the cold.

One of the boys began to pull up a dead dog by its leash from a shallow grave.

The deputy asked the boys what they were doing. One replied, "We see dog fighting on YouTube, so we just do it."

One of the boys said he tossed the dog over the fence because he was scared. His brother then said, "When the dog stopped moving after they fought I put a knife to its stomach and that's when blood started to come out."

The boys' mother told the deputy they needed to go to jail.

"I'm sick of them two stealing dogs, bikes and having all the neighborhood coming by here looking to us," according to the report.

One crucial piece of information the media overlooked. Where are the parents??????? Do ten and twelve year olds fend completely for themselves nowadays???

I don't blame YouTube for kids running amok like criminal sadists. I blame the parenting or lack thereof. The parents should be held responsible for at least some of their children's actions. Times are sure changing for the worst.

 

Same here... Bad parenting is to blame for this mess, not YouTube.

 

i would not say parenting is to blame. I used to be quite te rowdy child (never cruel to animals) and my parents were always getting shit for things me and the boy had done! and from the age of 12 up you know right from wrong and should be treated like an adult when it comes to crimes like this! I doubt the parents are to blame here!! the kids are just plain old sickos!! and crimes like this only lead to more sadistic things in the future! Lock em up or use em fordog food i say!!!

 

I don't believe locking a child up is that answer either. Yes! This was sick. But the prison (youth) system is a revolving door. Once you're in the system you'll never get out. It was never created to rehabilitate. These youth need psychological help. It's much more than the nuclear family, IMO it's a small part of a larger social problem. I believe it really does "takes a village to raise a family". Like Quinny said "the age of 12 up you know right from wrong and should be treated like an adult". This is a community/family issue, not the states.

 

bloody well said! I truly believe that doing sick shit like this at such a young age is only gonna lead to more bad behaviour down the road! Chess fighters right they need psych help.

 

The old dog-fighters, the dogmen so adored here, would be mortified to see how open the game is these days....
Public message boards with a code that any idiot knows, public videos, romanticized stories and detailed accounts of historical fights -- tell me you guys, what would your heroes have said about that?

Some of them thought the old dog-fighting mags were too much...

I am not surprised AT ALL as to what these kids are doing with what they see. It nauseates me to know that this is the tip of the iceberg and that much worse than this happens every day to these dogs.

idk dreamer, can you actually point me in the direction of a dog fight on youtube? that part of the article surprised me "we saw it on youtube" the only fights there are white fang and documentaries.

The "public videos" are all over seas and have nothing to do with our dogmen of the past other than the blood off their yard. The historical (and many times fictional) accounts we're written many years ago.


I will agree that sometimes the information in the threads can be a bit much and basically start to look like "An Idiot's Guide to Matching Dogs" but the blame really goes to the parent(s) who never taught these kids to respect other's property and other living things. These kids would have tortured these animals regardless and simply used "saw it on youtube" as an excuse.

Realistically these kids were poorly socialized and unfortunately are more then likely a product of their environment, that being said they knew right from wrong, even if your not brought up the best, you know beating/killing/disposing of dead dogs like they where doing is wrong, period. However if they didn't know it is, well then their still delinquents, and letting them roam free isn't going to fix them, and putting them in jail isn't going to fix them either, realistically in my estimation this is just the beginning for these two, cause thats some pretty gritty stuff for 10-12 yr old kids to be doing with no remorse for their actions whatsoever...:eek:

 

The parents and kids are practically sociopaths to live that way. That's the scariest thing about the human condition, people can get used to anything.

 

my goodness those kids should go to indonesian prison, after 3 days the parents need to buy coffin though are the govt will sell the boys corpses to university for disection.

 

Where are the parents when all this is going on? They should be charged too imo, they allowed it to continue. People don't seem to want to raise kids anymore, just have them left and right. In the end the dogs are the lossers......

 

This report is either fake, or not a very good article written by whatever rag it was published in.

Under US Law, those boys actions whilst on the premises of their parents are directly the responsibility of their parents and/or guardians.

If the parents knew this was happening, and didn't stop it (which they obviously did, since she said she was sick of it and wanted them to go to jail). They will go to jail, the kids will be assessed, and either placed in juvenile incarceration, giving psychiatric help and released to a foster home, or placed into protective custody and then moved to a foster home once they've been processed.

Don't believe everything you read... unless newspapers are dictating the law these days?
