Just a question!!!

What happen to the days where the dogmen where as solid as the dogs they raised? I mean nowadays it looks like the game has been ran over by rats, snitches, & undercover cops.

The owners were never as solid as the dogs they raised.
Most of what you read about the old time dogmen was written by themselves or others just like them.
They were the same as today just less of them.

 

Rats, Snitches, and undercover cops have ALWAYS been part of the game. Paper hanging, shady people and getting screwed come with the dogs. The game hasn't changed just the arena in which its played.

 

alot of the good people that were in have left due to the laws. now its filled with thugs and low lifes

 

Id agree with popper, whatever "good" and moral people that were around have been chased away from the game by the laws.

 

hmmmmm .... kind of sounds just like the drug trade... matter of fact sounds exactly like the drug trade

As you can read, it never was very Honourable. The most solid thing was the DOGS.

 

I don't think human beings have ever shown that they can be consistently "solid" or reliable in ANY arena, so I would assume like stated above nothing has changed about the people.

The dogs don't change though, they are always solid

 

People who lived outside the law have always been involved with these dogs. One thing that has changed is that dogfighting was a minor charge back then now it is a felony. Some of those stand up guys back then may have turned into rats under today's laws. Dogfighting was nothing back then, but today they will run past thieves, killers and other riff raff to get a alleged dogfighter. Bigger headlines and bigger money.

The only thing you can do is focus on your own character and how you and your dogs are. Every generation sees the past as some what "golden days" or the golden age. But look at alot of the old timers, some of em don't like eachother cuz of similiar acts that go on today lol.

I guess it depends who u get the story from, cuz its hard for one man to say that he never crossed another.

there were and are a few,good men in the game. also always been alot of bad ones.but the bigest change to the game is the internet!!!!!!!!! used to b if you were in the know only the FL doggers knew your name.then along came the internet and bla bla bla....now everyone see's all.and its not just the newbee's talkin.how many articles ya see on keeps,game test,schooling,.i'll tell ya how many...too many!!!!and yes its good info for some folks. but I think that kinda info should have been guarded better.shared only with close friends and protasha's!!! im not pointing any fingers just an opinion.hell in on here too...lol

 

I remember reading my first Statton book and thinking that dog men I was about to meet were going to be in top hats with canes- since then, I have been burnt by some of the best.
