Is Achilles too skinny?

To me Achilles looks a bit underweight, what do you all think, here is the scenario, he is a yard dog, gets fed 3 cups a day, I feed him Kirklands premium chicken and rice, walk him every night, I wormed him a month ago (made sandwiches out of bread), did not see any gain in weight, there is small rocks that accumulate around his chain spot sometimes, and some rocks he likes to chew on, he rarely does this and not to the point were he damages his teeth, could it be the rocks not letting me add weight, he is still the happy energetic dogs as always and his poop is dark and firm.. Any thoughts .

He looks fine to me, maybe a bit ribby but nothing serious. If you've noticed a lack in energy then I would say he's too far thinned out and up the feed a bit.

looks good to me but if hes a just a yard dog might want beef the ribs just a littel.

You should not see backbone or hips.....ok for now but don't let it go any lower. I had one that looked anorexic til he was 2. The more I fed him the more he shit but no weight gain

If he is tightly bred, look at his siblings or parents. How active is he? Be sure he is parasite free. He looks good to me, but I wouldn't go any leaner.

could be hie genes too, some dogs are just fit all there lifes, others are rolly polly, then thin out at 2yrs,

all my 3 from the same litter differ in weight and energy and activity. on the chain,

they all get the same amount of exercise and all! but you would think Yerik was never walked,

if his health is okay and he seem okay, probably genetics...

    add brown rice for weight

  11. how old is he, and have you had a fecal done?

What did you worm him with (what medication)? Should've used a broad spectrum wormer, but keep in mind some wormers focus on tapes but do nothing fo rounds and vice versa. Additionally, There are other parasites outthere possibly coccidia if he's around a year old. Up his feed by 1/2-1 cup daily for 2 weeks and mark the changes.

He looks fine to me overall in the pics, but if he sits on the yard like that I'd get the fecal done, and probably treat for coccidia as well as worming just to be safe.

If your not doing anything with him then I think he is to skinny. Having a few extra pounds on the dog can help him out if he ever gets sick or comes down with something. If it's not show time then I like to keep them 5 pounds heavy.

I also feed kirkland chicken and rice and i have found that the fat content isnt high enough for my dogs so i added some cod liver oil and that did the trick for me. Dont increase his feed; try adding the oil first. You can also use olive oil.

i feed the same , and found the dogs drying up, getting skin problems, and patches of fur,

i have them on raw, Boris's head cleared up, try him on Raw for 3 weeks (butcher scraps, allot more fat in the diet then, and they will look awesome, only had them on raw for a couple days, hairs coming back, coats are nicer, not as dry looking....

  16. He could use a few more pounds for my eyes. I agree with the poster that said try him on the Raw diet for a few weeks.

I wormed him with paste panacur, the dosage i use is 1cc per 10lb of dog, for 5 days straight, my female bandog weights more than double his weight and only gets one cup more than my pitbull, she fills up quite nicely, she is also a yard dog, the pitbull is always energetic and happy, could be genetics.

I think he might need not only a couple pounds on him but possibly a change in the feed, Could just be the pictures but he doesn't look like he is doing good to me on what your feeding him.

your dog looks like he is trying to master the karma sutra in one of those pics :P but other than that he looks fine. if your concerned take the dog to the vet and start researching BARF diets.
