Its probably its diet... You probably are feeding bad food. Or could be your ''blue nosed dogs'' genetics... what are you feeding it?

Is the hair loss obvious on him? If so you should maybe see a vet. There could be numerous reasons why he has hair loss, climate, diet, mites etc.
If he is ok and the hair loss isn't that obvious on him, maybe change his diet, I swear by a raw food diet for my dogs and a tea spoon of cod liver oil a couple times a week.
    I'm sure he'll be fine :)

what does the cod liver oil do for your dog?

  7. Since i got him hes been eating puppy chew becuz richer foods gives him gas and diarrea. The hair loss on him is not noticable hes still has a very thick coat and i stay in sacramento ca and the climte is starting to warm up and i thought it could be from that.

you could just brush your dog. they will always have a small shed at the change of seasons. if its very significant, then this is the last place you should be asking, the first place being the vet.

it could be as jelet mentioned those "blue nose" genetics that color tends to be prone to many skin/allergies/and mange issues and since most blue noses these days are far from being health tested who knows, but also dogs can shed more as certain seasons end my girl was shedding a lot as the end of winter was approaching you should consider to brush the dogs fur at least twice a day during heavy shedding it will help. As mentioned maybe the diet may play a roll with this as well if it's kibble it might be a key for you to try another brand.

Ive seen a vast improvement in my dogs and their general well being....heres an extract from a site re benefits of Cod Liver Oil for dogs.

Aptly named, cod liver oil is extracted from the livers of cod fish. It is remarkably high in Omega-3 fatty acids, as well as vitamins A, E and D. EPA, one type of Omega-3 fatty acid, has been shown to reduce damage to joint cartilage, thereby alleviating arthritis pain. The oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which helps it fight ailments like inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Cod liver oil could even make your dog smarter: DHA, another Omega-3 fatty acid found in the oil, has been shown to improve learning and trainability in puppies.

Cod liver oil is a natural fish oil that provides the omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, as well as naturally occurring levels of Vitamin A and D.

The omega 3's in cod liver oil supports:

    joint health
    cardiovascular health
    skin and coat health
    visual development
    brain health
    energy production
    anti-inflammatory environment
Vitamin A in cod liver oil supports:

    vision health
    growth
    immune system
Vitamin D in cod liver oil supports:

    bone and joint health
phosphorus and calcium balance for healthy bone cells
    muscle contractions

If he has a nice thick coat, its very probable that there is nothing seriously wrong with him and shedding hair is very natural around the warmer months.
Just keep an eye out for patches of hair loss, thats normally not a good sign.

As suggested brushing is good to get rid of the excess loose hair and maybe try to put him on the raw food diet. He may have a bad tummy for the first week but it normally settles down once the body de-toxifies from the dog food.

    All the best.

givin the time of year I would go with "he's blowing his winter coat". Especially if you arent noticing a change in the density his coat ,just more hair on your floor. Anyone who has inside/outside dogs is dealin with the same thing right about now.

I use cod liver oil in my self and dog also, max epa 700 specifically which is also prescriped as a medicine for people with high colesterol levels, BUT after I read one of scratchin dog's posts, which I consider a master in conditioning, about the high levels of A vitamin and toxicity in dogs I prefer to go for salmon oil, less vitamin A. Keep in mind that vitamin A is stored in fat tissue and in fasting periods you might get too much released too fast which will result in toxicity.

  18. I use Sea Pet for Ella.
I'm waiting on a shipment to arrive, so for the time being she's simply getting coconut oil.
And about 1-2 times a week I give her a can of sardines (in WATER).:D
