europeans and hog hunting

i don't see much about it

any europeans that hunt with bulldogs?

 

I wondered the same things...I know they hunt hogs in Germany a bunch with Jadg Terriers. Those little devils are bad to the bone!!!!!

 

Family members of mine do use them but not often, they prefer shooting them.

 

In Turkey. A little part of it is in Europe so I think that counts ?:p

 

usually hog is hunted in group and with fire arms.
not usual to hunt with dogs, much less with bulldogs

even if i only have interested in bulldogs it seems that there are some nice breeds to hunt with

 

I don't know anything about hog hunting. But I know they use them.

 

it depends on the country you live in and their rules for hunting. in spain they use their own breeds such as presa/dogo canario and alano espanol (i believe dogs for wild boar hunting are called "perro de jabali"), but also crosses from podenco and dogo argentino as well as pure bred podencos and galgos (sighthounds).

in eastern europe, the english bull terrier was quite popular; those dogs were also popular in germany. in the 1970s a few german breeders created the "ancient" alano by breeding presas mallorquins/ca de bous, cane corsos, presa canarios and also some dogo argentinos and apbts together.
this breed is used to this day for guarding and hunting BUT officially you are not allowed to hunt with a dog that actually grabs the prey. so you have to travel to other countries.
there's another german breed, the holstein griffer. they are said to be bred down from american bulldogs :rolleyes:

 

There are still a few mates in Germany, who hunts with a pack of Terrier (Deutsche Jagd Terrier, Patterdale Terrier.....) and the "Saufeder" (boar spear). But it's not allowed, and they risk to loose their hunting license.
Also some poachers do it with silent hunting dogs.

Going to hunt hogs with some of the American bulldogs this year in both sweden and poland.

In Ireland we don't have any Hog's or that many AmBulls either lol, but Badger hunting is still common, using Pitbull x Terriers usually.

there here allright.A few were shot in leitrim about 2 or 3 years back,some farmer was rearing them and they escaped,only bonnamhs,so he thought they would be dead in a few days.Probably they have all been shot by now.I have heard from a reliable source of them being somewhere else in ireland.you can buy them in buy and sell for a few hundred euro.

they are supposed to be common enough in parts of england,anybody from over there try hunting them

 

how do you kill the prey?

 

the apbt is illegal in germany,

 

no they are not illegal...in some parts of germany u have to pay more and do a temperament test.but not my part

 

The prey becomes a heart attack, when the naked hunter catch it :p.

watching a show the other morn n a rescue centre caught an escaped baby hog in some town in south england.....so sum fecker is breeding them in uk......and if they are escaping.....well.....wont be too long till sum unlucky fecker n their poodle bump into one in the forest!!....hope both dog and owner can climb trees....lol...:cool:
