For hypothetical reasons, say you yourself had a prospect that was going to class to "hunt" hogs and when going to class something happened and for whatever reasons he damaged his hardware leaving him short of a full tool box what would you do with this prospect there after do you cull immediately or do you let stick around for breeding purposes and why in whichever choice

really depends on how good it is. theres been a few that made rank without a full set of ivory. the ability & game has got to be pretty high though.

find out if he can still work. if he can either work him or give him to someone close that wants to work him.

If he can't work at a high level due to not having a full set then test his mettle. If he passes then he can stick around and be for schooling and a few breedings.

theres been many that have been retired after losing their hardware.....all depends on the situation tho imo.....did it show good before it lost them....and as said....have you faith in the dog to atleast try again and see if he is still capable after losing them!!!

Yeah I'm in agreement with the previous postings but I was just curious as to what some of the internet doggers had to say bc many make excuses for a dog that lost his hardware chewing on a dog bowl or something stupid and still let him stick around for breeding purposes or whatever bc he has a pretty ped personally I have not known many on a personal level that would still send one thru the fire after this type of incident

Unless you have an exceptionaly special dog I would not hunt them with less than three. Would you box with one eye or a broke arm. You owe it to your charge to show him in only the best shape.

the worst outcome of a yard accident ive every seen was the damage a nine year old bitch at 30pnds done to a two year old male who snapped of after having to smell her heat from across the yard. he was twice the size of her and she only had on and a half of her fangs left when it was over she had none left from biting her chain while defending herself. the male was found cowering in his kennel and none of the other dogs in the yard had been touched, he had two broken legs and obviously hadnt dislayed any decent traits out of it so he was culled off the yard. she had no fangs left and when the wner came home and made the horrific discovery, she was as happy as evry with her tail shaking her body when she saw her owner.
same dog was also a favoured school dog for new pig dogs and the new dogs could watch her work and hopefully learn a thing or to by working with her, after a while she obviously realised she didnt have the hangers she use to, so she would bite harder and always go straight for the legs in her molars and crush away. she had the gameness and the brains to moveforward in her thinking with or with out the hangers. the most non bulldog looking bulldog, ive ever seen plain jane nothing special and i would cut my right nut off to have a dog of her caliber on my yard.

Sounds like a damn fine dog, junkyard. I'd be proud to feed her.
