If they have parvo already do yourself a favor and go to the vet before they start dropping like flies, fuck the home remedies, if you have to ask that question then just make it eaiser on yourself and go to the vets immediatly. Are you prepared with the supplies and the know how to administer IV fluids? If not, again, take the dogs to the vet. (which if they already have parvo you better do it quick or they will start dying in short order). If they do not have it, again take them to the vet and have them vaccinated unless you have the know how and ability to do it yourself, then you don't have to worry about some wives tale remedies..Just to the right thing which in this case would seem to be to take the pups to your vet.

what he said, i personaly dont care either way so didnt take the time to ellabortate like you...chances are if he doesnt know this kinda shit they probably arent bred from bulldawgs, and probably wont be in the best of hands(if he dont know about parvo what else dont he know about)...
so i just kept it simple and said take to vet and if not gave him a link so that if he put in some efort his pups would have a shot.

If you don't know how to properly treat it (obviously you don't cause your online asking questions) just save yourself the trouble and go to the vet.Parvo is some nasty shit.

  8. Vet now, or put the pups down and save them the misery of you "learning" on them... Like others have said, this is something to learn before you have pups, not something you sort out on a litter like they are your little science project.

Take them to the vet. I would also pick up some of this:

    KenL-Lan - Amazon.com

and disinfect everything. Its used in kennels, animal hospitals, etc... We use parvolan at my job which is same thing diff name, I also use it on my yard.

Parvo is not easy to deal with, it takes allot of work but you need to weather the storm for 4 to 6 days. You need to keep the pups hydrated until the virus passes through their system.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

You must get them to drink water, but they will puke everything out if they drink to much in a short period of time.

Also, boil rice in water and place it in a blender for 5 mines so it becomes like a soup and than hand feed the pups.

    Good luck.

    I aint going to lie,

I found out about parvo the hard way. I always thought if I kept things clean, and had my pups up to date on shots, what could go wrong...?

Anyway, a little dedication can go a long way. I saved my whole litter, even after the vet told me it was too late and to just put them down, as I was going to spend an a$$load of money and probably lose them.

That being siad, if you cannot administer your own I.V.'s, go to the vet and get them well hydrated.

THEN when you get them home, you're going to have to either skip work or come home every couple hours. Luckily for me, I lived 5 minutes from work and came home 5 times a day to "rehydrate" the pups with pedia lyte.

Basically, they'd puke, I'd stuff them full of pedia lyte, clean the puke, rinse and repeat. I saved all 4 pups I had.

2 of the pups already had been placed, 1 never got it, the other was lost AT THE VET.

Who's fault was it? TOTALLY mine!

Yeah the dude seems to not know a damn thing, but if he's on here ASKING how to save them. I doubt he's going to go to the vet cuz "we" tell him to.

I'll atleast give you the best advice I can and hope you DO listen and get those pups to the vet.

Best of luck, and hope you learned something from this:

An ounce of prevention is worth a pund of cure.... AND a little bit of knowledge can go a long way. Do your research FIRST next time.

Best of luck to those pups,

    MinuteMan

I am happy to know everyone that owns a pitbull on this thread studied and knew everthing about dogs before they got one. Also they learned nothing through experience because they already knew it all:) What a relief:dogdrink:

shit my daddy was whispering to me in the womb Parvo is bad for dogs take them to the vet if they have any signs of it

  17. Now you are being a bit melodramatic. If you don't know the most basic things about dogs, you have no business backing a male into a female. I would consider Parvo to be pretty damn basic.

I know of plenty of young children who can tell you what it is, so yes a grown man should be able to take a couple minutes to read up on it before he breeds dogs. I mean it is only pretty much the single most common illness worry with puppies.... its not like it is some cryptic exotic virus or bacteria that only every 1 in a million people dealing with puppies comes across.

The dogs are his property, and he can breed them as much as he wants to with as little knowledge as he feels like having - but that doesn't mean I have to think it was the right choice.
