How a dog performs

I have always heard that a dog gets his gameness from his mom, but performs like his daddy. If that is the case then it would seem that I could take any proven game bitch and put a proven talent over her and the probablity that I would have good dogs would be better. I personally do not believe that it is that easy or everyone would have fire ass dogs. However I had a female that would throw fire every litter, so maybe there is some truth to it. I am sure there are a million different opinions on these matters, but it does make for good conversation on a slow day at work.

You obviously didn't see in my post " I personally don't beleive this or everyone would have fire ass dogs." Like I said it is a slow day at work and I am interested in people's opinion. You are obviously interested in being an asshole. The man that told me this is 80+ years old and has forgotten more about dogs than I could hope to learn. I have heard similar things about chickens too. Not saying that it is true, but the old timers mostly bred good dogs to good dogs, did they not? What does that have to do with genetics?

 

Some dogs male or female just have a gift. That's why there was a ROM list. As far as the gameness coming from the female, that's horse shit. Alot of cold and cur females have produced as well as males.

 

Breeding has everything to do with genetics, wether the breeder realizes it or not. The reason best to best worked effectively is because in many cases the dogs were the best because they had good genetic traits to begin with. Genetics were still the factor that made the breedings work, the breeders just didn't have the understandings that we have today about genes.

Do you guys think, with laws and regulations, there will be another Jeep, Eli, Honeybunch, or Chinaman? Are the best dogs behind us or do you expect the future to produce dogs of that caliber? Sorry for the random post, but I am facinated by these dogs that we all love, and I want my generation to produce some great dogs as well.

 

There are probably some out there right now that are much better than these dogs you spoke of, but I doubt if the world will really ever know.

ive seen this topic somewhere before....escapes me where....but...imo....the experiances those dogs had,schooling,raising,etc.....all added to the dogs make-up. you cant replicate that.

 

not only can you replicate it (as it's well documented) you can improve it.so goes a simpletons mind set.

 

Even in cloning they can't make an exact replica of an animal. You may recreate the identical animal that has all the same exact features but you can't clone will and heart.

 

so genetically that means that smart mofo einstein(spelling) can be reborn with his dna??..hmmmmm..... im sure that smart fucker had to learn his trade etc!!!!:cool:
