I agree with this a lot better then a shock collar.

we use voice command, and then work into a hand signal and also teach both at the same time for anything.

    That is funny!!! Crate agility!

I think you may be missing the point of the e-collar training though. Actually going into the kennel isn't the have all end all. It is a means to an end.

You see, all my dog will run into a kennel too - even prior to using an e-collar. They already know what the command means. The KENNEL command just happens to be what I use to get the dog familiar with the e-collar. Once the dog learns what the collar means, it transitions into all aspects of training.

I still keep my training sessions positive. In fact, as my pups become familiar with the collar, they get excited to see it. When my wirehair would see the collar she would jump up and down and scratch at the front door. As soon as I opened it she would jump in the back of my truck and wait for me to stick it on her neck.

In general, dogs like to be worked.

Thanks man! I am heading out to Georgia in two weeks to hit the peanut fields. I hope to get some good video there. The only problem is my freezer is already chuck full of sausage!

Cool video Chump... I have never used an E-collar for training a dog to go in and out of a crate can't say I am for or against it. Whatever works for you. I would love to see how a game dog would respond to that method.

@ Sadieblues - Well, you may be in luck ;) I have a little, heavy bred jeep/redboy that is about six months old. I will probably start formal training in the next few months.

She is about a year and a half.

I hunt mostly at night, so I am getting a camera with night shot to catch more footage. I will post it. Although, last time I posted it some whack job peta nut went crazy over it, and I had to take it down.

I love watching a dog work. That is the main reason I hunt. I used to hunt pheasant six months out of the year. I was a guide and trained dogs semi-professionally. Loved running bird dogs. Now that I am in the south I had to change my hunting style. I will say though NOTHING compares to watching a bulldog work. They are intense!

Patterdales are decent dogs to work too, as well as other ground dogs. Though I agree, nothing beats a bulldog working.

So, I made another quick video of training with treats. I was trying to show that the dogs already know commands. They are just being conditioned to the collar. See, you can get a dog to do all kinds of things by using positive reinforcement. The problem with using only positive reinforcement is if the dog doesn't want to do it, it won't. I have seen very smart and talented dogs go from perfect execution of a command to completely ignoring the commands because another dog walked by. When you properly condition a dog with a collar, the dog DOES what is asked no matter what is going on around them.

Anyway, be warned this is a stupid video of my half @$$ trained dogs. You will waste approximately seven minutes of your life you cannot get back. In my defense, I just haven't spent any time training them.

That was a cute video your pups are really adorable :D I personally use treats as positive reinforcement in the beginning but I also like to use praise without treats just because I don't want my dogs to get use to only performing what I ask of them only if a treat is involved but I like to use treats mostly with my young dogs/pups I think it's good to mix it up a little ... Anyway good video's thanks for sharing. ;)

I think your name fits, shock collars and bulldogs is a silly idea at best. See how well that works when you are on a hog trail. Stick to bird dogs.

That was pretty good - three compliments followed by one slam.... Much better than my usual posts!

Anyway, I have been thinking about training one of my dogs like a retriever. If I do, I will post it up.

Chump I like you I don't care what anyone says about you :D Any guy who can pull of those type of hours and still be standing to record a training video with his dogs is alright in my book;) Keep doing what you do look forward to seeing more of your video's.:)

I hate the shock collar on a bulldog as well as Prong collers and choke collers. I dont understand why one would get a high strung working dog from gamelines to do silly shit with them like agility etc.. I say let them be bulldogs damn it! However , I do respect anyone who puts alot of time and efforts into there dog even if the focus is something I dissagree with. In that aspect good job. you have healthy well taken care of and trained dogs.

I'm not big on conformation, agility, weightpull, dock diving, or any of these other dog events for the apbt, simply because the apbt's job doesn't fit these "job descriptions," if you can call these events jobs. However, the apbt does do extremely well in all of these areas. They are an all around dog and even though it might seem silly to us, I'm all for an apbt doing agility, weightpull, etc.
