If you have too hard of a dog and you work him to old Brock then believe me his career won't last too long

CCDINO im not disputing the fact that ALMOST any breed can be trained in bite work and bitesports at all because i kno they can. I was just reffering to the statement about the 10lb Patts not being very effective. If they arent very effective its because they werent bred for it. I have never heard someone say that 95lb German Shepherds arent very effective.

Would you rather take a bite from a german shepherd to the forearm, or would you prefer to take a bite from a 10 lb. patterdale right to your nutsacks? It is far more likely for a patterdale to hit you in your nuts than a german shepherd due to the dog's height.

I have a pit x patt and she is a little monster. I have a tire in the garage that she likes to hang from. She will go at it for about an hour and then I run her with the ball.
She has a ton of energy.
One thing that I noticed is she has an amazing nose, she dug up an old goat hoof that was 3 feet in the ground. I have been living at my place for 15 years and I have never owned a goat. Who knows how old that hoof is. I hide toys around the house and she always finds them. She kills rats like crazy. She is 7 months old now. I can see why people like to hunt with these dogs, they have the ability to sniff out pray and dispatch. I think it’s a great combination.

two different dogs with two different purposes...

i love them both, but after some experience with the crosses I feel that each breed loses more than they gain

of course there are exceptions to the rule, i will keep my apbt and patts separate from now on

Spannable? what a pie in the sky breeder term. get to the science of it. is your terrier 14 inches around or less? then you are good to go. spannable.... are you a 6 foot 4 carpenter or a 5 foot 2 ballerina ? shit a bulldog might be spannable to shaquille o neal. and sure there are terriers out there that go to go ground that are larger than 14 inches around, but then you run into problems with a high drive dog with no reverse wedges himself into an earth and chokes himself out and dies. and the smaller the terrier is the quicker he can get to quarry more quietly and quickly upping your odds of success when working them in the ground. less time to backfill etc etc.

You say that Nuttal added bull blood every so many generations with such authority. Im hoping that if you have that much insider information about the goings on of Nuttals yard, you could be even more specific and name what lines or line of bulldogs he uses or used? Or better yet still Im hoping for even more inside info and name names of individual dogs. I think it would be great information to share if anyone knows for sure. Im not denying the dna link between the two types or do I say between the breed and the type... just curious for more specific info if its out there.

Man whose dog killed raccoon pleads guilty to a misdemeanor shortly before trial was expected to start | MLive.com not sure if you heard about this or not. Adding bull blood takes from the patts nose and size is added so that the crossed dog cannot get everywhere the smaller terrier can. My terriers job is and in order, 1) find the quarry 2) fit where the quarry fits 3) stay until I get there. no mention of engage the quarry, just stay close enough that the quarry does not move about, and get mouthy if the quarry closes the distance on the terrier . If you need the terrier to kill the quarry for you, you are at risk of running foul of the law.

dont think many but nuttal himself will know what bull/s were used and probably wouldnt tell many. i would think a smaller bull would be better than a half x but i dont have them coon here so no first hand knowledge but if it does the job it does the job have you worked pbt on coons if so whats the difference between the pure of both and the cross and anyone got some pics of the cross they dont mind putting up? wouldnt mind seeing some vids either

finger slipped , it is written that nuttal prefered to use the little quick workin bull n terriers from the north east of england and not the heavier show stock . when it was deemed necessary for an out cross ..

next time i speak to brian, i will ask him about what bull lines he has used, and how long ago?

Id say it was his grandfather added bull (cheshire terrier) to them rather than brian as he says he has never added bull to his lines. That breed went extinct around 1920s-1930s (small <20lb pitbull type)

In my opinion the pat is the complete finished artical for what he was bred to do.people bring in the bull blood to make them rougher, stronger etc ..thats not what you want to be lookin for in a pat..imagine putting 1 in a hole an as soon as he finds matey they go at it toe to toe,in the mean time your taking maybe 4 hour to dig to him.by the time you get down to your dog he will be lucky to have his teeth or face left..thats if hes alive!! i dont keep the patts myself but im very good friends with some of the best terrier men in the country and go out with them a couple of times a season just because i like the day out with the dogs.an i tell you now i get the same thing from them every time we go out.as soon as they dig to the first dog of the day..they look to me an say "just look at that..unbelivable!!.dont know why you bother with the bulls.these are the gamest dogs in the world.i dont care what you say!you should get rid of them, get a kennel full of these, you'd do great with these..game as a pebble these are..etc etc" for a start ther not the gamest dogs in the world! an they were never bred to be..they are an unbelivable breed in ther own right an u cant take that away from them but a pat is a worker not a fighter dont confuse the two..at the end of your season count how many your little fighter done an compare it to how many ur little solid worker done..if i was keepin the terriers id rather have a kennel full of workers who give you plenty of sport instead of a load of smashed up dogs who only got you a hand full..keep in mind im from the uk an the patts her are bred to go to ground..
