I rotate or change feeds I have found the products without these particular ingredients tend to have a well rounded diet

The whole dogfood frenzy is overrated hype, I mean don't get me wrong there are dogs out there that have allergies to certain ingredients, but the whole "dogs are allergic to corn" thing is bullshit. The fact is only a very small percent of dogs that have issues with "corn" or "by products". More often then not when a dog reacts badly to food, its more often the "protiene base" of the food. I used to believe the corn, wheat gluten, rice, ect. Was bad, which in some very small percent of cases is true. But since the whole "grain free" movement started, the "corn" theories caught like wildfire. To the folks that dogmen run in the family, think of this what was gramps or pops feedin the yard? It for damn sure wasn't no wellness or royal canin. Now I'm not saying, that top shelf nutrition isn't better for your animal thans basic, cuz it is. But it don't make your hound shit gold like everybody says. As long as its aafco certified and your dog does well with it, I say go nuts.

Havin that said, folks from my work always tell customers that as long as the base protien is within the first 3 ingredients it should be good. But I personally disagree, I like to make sure that the base protien is in the first 2 to 3 ingredients, then I look at the protien and fat content.

My best advice is find something your dog does well on, and stick with it.

Or should I say, makes up the first 2 to 3 ingredients.

And if its a working dog I'd look for something with atleast 28 percent protien and 18 percent fat.

Ive always heard that the first few ingredients make up 90% of the food. So you want to see a lot of meat, little to no grain/rice and no soy. I use taste of the wild, great value for the ingredients compared to evo. but there are many great foods out now.

Yea with a couple dogs I would feed a higher end nutrition. But when the numbers go up that shit gets expensive.
