feed daily or every other day

I personally feed my dog every day... the old man says he feeds his every other day... what about you?

 

type of feed / frequency will affect metabolism. if i was preparing for winter i may feed every other day to slow metabolic rate ( diet would require higher carbs/fat than usual)

 

ohok interesting... so would you increase the food intake while trying to slow the metabolism??? but he's always fed like that besides when in a keep... but normal feeding is once every other day... a nice helping but every other day

and i was scared of over feeding... i only have the one dog currently so he gets aloooot of exercise and i noticed that he would seem to be hungry later on in the evening so i would give him a few scoops... then i tried giving him a few scoops in the morning and a few in the evening when he's done walkn or whatever and make his "main" feeding at night... then i just broke down to once in the evening... i think that 2 a day would be best though depending on the work

 

feeding more frequent means the body is working longer to process the nutrients, same reason many athletes eat 5+ x a day, you're just constantly fueling the muscles, and your body is burning energy(fat) working to process. with the right nutrient ratios, you can increase performance quite a bit

I fed healthy adult dogs twice a day.

 

your vet will tell you 1 time aday to let the dog empty out . a working dog needs to be empty in the field or he will run hot . bird dogs hunt all day then get feed so they will be empty to hunt the next day . dogs are always hungry there like pigs . if you give it to them they will eat .

 

I feed the dog twice daily

 

I feed three times a day. Feeding often keeps dogs leaner and much more entergetic. Also winter feeding I usually up it to four times a day. They need many more calories in the cold to keep their body temp higher.

 

I feed once a day mainly. but in the morning the'll get an apple, a banana or a tomato maybe a cucumber or sonthin like that.
I do always try to keep um hungry. I believe a dog will work better for you hungry, than a dog that works only for snacks.

I also see value in doing a fasting day once a week, although I currently am not doing it.

If I don't have anything going on with my dog I feed twice a day, but I agree with Old Goat about feeding working dogs. When my dog has work to do I adjust his feed accordingly to make sure he's empty or can get that way.

 

I feed once every day but one per week. so a one day fast per week has always been my way of feeding, my grandfather did the same.
