Views on APBT X SBT?

i wasnt looking for advice. i just wondered what people thought of the cross. i knew their would be some bias on here. the word mutt is not offensive to me, my dogs are mongrels of two different bull terriers but they are still bull terriers are'nt they? i have two staffxpits i am intending to breed, not for pets but because they both have the same good traights for workin dogs.

 

every kind of dog has been a mutt at some point. i dont think it matters what it says on a bit of paper

 

i am in for long haul. where i live everyone thinks a bull terrier must be big with only red noses! im trying to change that and make people appreciate real old skool bull terrier, not a fat slow bully with only pink skin

aint a SBT a pitbull bred for the show ring? considering it hasnt been bred with other breeds, just bred for a different purpose? . correct me if i'm wrong when i say that i think of sbt's to be a seperate bloodline of pitbulls that just so happens to have bloodlines of their own as well.

 

I am with you . I tend to have different views on dogs than most members on this site. Good or bad? Who is to say.
I do not incur any drama about what I post but do not "claim" to be a know it all either.
I know MY Bulldogs.....that is all I know. Some have tried to tell me one thing, some have told me other things. There are tons of sites to use in this situation.

An Amstaff used to be an Apbt bred for the show ring, but both physical and mental characteristics have led them to be a different breed. A kennelclub SBT to me is what an Amstaff is to an Apbt, bred for show and nothing else. In some parts of the world you will find the real classic SBT though, which actually is a breed throwing quite game dogs in a consistent matter. However, they don't excel at their purpose like an Apbt in my eyes and for that same reason the Apbt is the only 'real' Pitbull.

 

SBT x Apbt might be breeding the same 'type' of dogs together, but it still creates a mutt. This mutt can in some cases be as game as a game Apbt, but it's still a mutt. For some reason people get upset when they hear 'it's still a mutt', but if you're into dogs just for what people will tell you about the dogs that you own, you shouldn't feel offended when an honest dogman calls you out on your bullshit when you're calling your mutt an Apbt.

 

how can you call someone on their opinion? all bull terrier breeds come from same bull terriers originally, some people have developed them in different ways. i agree my dogs are mutts, i am the first to admit this but in the end they are still bull terriers, all of which have been developed from the 1st ones.
IMO an Amstaff is politicaly correct word for pit bulls for the higher classes

exactly, no reason to cross find the working dogs in your breed and get more working dogs no need to start all over again that is pretty much what your doing when you x anything

 

The word is an insult just look at the way it has been used and i looked at the dictionary's and found this.

There is how ever a big diff in a dog from just 'mixed' breedings and a crossbred dog, specialy between 2 strains from the same type of family dog cause that's al they are in the end (working stock).

Personaly i do not care that much i call every unproven dog a mutt, LMAO but no way a 5xW,1xL was a mutt no matter what breeding it was.
So many APBT with fake backgrounds in the past that were not even proven like that dog was but people would breed to it in an instand.

Amstaff therefore isn't what you just made up 'a politcally correct word for Apbt for the higher classes', but a bloodline started from gamedogs specifically bred for showpurpose instead of game purposes. Therefore an Amstaff is no gamedog, nor a Pitbull as in Apbt since their total physical appearance and mental state isn't the one resembling an Apbt. This is also the reason why they are now, and have been for many years, called Amstaffs, instead of Apbt's. They have become a seperate breed, deal with it.

I've heard the cur FCI-bred SBT generally has Pug blood mixed in with to get that retarded look too.

 

yer u could be wright with the show stafford but not the working type no pug blood at all

maybe for people who prefer form over function, but "classes" imo, is irrevalant.
and to the op's question on crossing? i personally would not. an APBT should stay it's own entity. imo, i see absolutely NO reason to cross the two, nor would i ever.

i know the staffordshirebull terrier and american pitbull terrier was the same breed many years ago and i know they look diffrent now because of perfomance versus show but in the last hundred odd years if no other breed has been added to them both dont you think geniticly there still the same breed in performance i know there diffrent
