Ozzie Stevens on Sportmanship/Dogmen

Ozzie was given 10 grand for the loan of Homer.When he saw Homer and he looked so bad he should have given them the money back which covered the forfeit and took his dog home.But Ozzie chose to keep the money instead.Which was his choice but to complain about years later is sour grapes to me.Ozzie said in his interview you can make all the excuses in the world ,but when its over, and you lost well I did my job you should have done yours.You can tell when Ozzie talks it still bothers him about Homer because he knows he made a mistake with Homer.The point of my comments are as good as a dogman as Ozzie was even he makes mistakes.

 

Red you are correct my dad and I told him the night before no to go thrught with it but it was about the money . But First mistake was 43 was no were near homers weight !!!

It always amazes me that overtime stories change, or things added to it . Like it changes the outcome.Should have, would have, doesn't matter, or change the outcome ,or change history.You do the best you can to put your dog in the best position to win ,and then its up to the dog.

 

theoretically because the longer the night. the odds go down at going home. that's why a rough one could make rank fast. mouth would make a fella think twice about losing his good dog lol. rj/os would make folks prove there stuff. i know homer & sandman would be my house dog lol.

Anyone who bashes Ozzie is a total fucking retard, end of story. Homer was hurting jeep even in his piss poor condition and when James Crenshaw asked Stepp for a draw, Ozzie said no. To him homer was winning and had it not been for the shitty handler, he maybe could have won. If it wasn't for him, the fight would have favored homer alot better than it did. Homer killed his other 4 opponents. He beat Andre Giroux and Clyde Mason, he went into the best and destroyed it, and that is why Billy wanted to use him. He was nearly the freak that his relative zebo was. Ozzie said that if they would have brought jeep at homers weight, that homer would have bit jeep in half. Just for the record, Ozzie didn't change his tune about anything, he is talking about people in general leaving their dogs down to be punished by the opposition. Think back to the match he had against Jack Kelly when he had Jacks dog singing and Jack left her in there too long. He has seen the inside of a box more times than anyone posting on here, myself included. He knows right and wrong, and is in my opinion the most under rated dogman to date. The people he beat are legendary, but few mention his name unless they are talking about the homer jeep match.

Again could have won. Nobody is bashing Ozzie but like I said even he makes mistakes.Ozzie last I checked doesn't walk on water.What kind of dogman was Ozzie his record speaks for him.Ozzie's tune has changed.He states don't make excuses when your dog loses.I did my job you should have done yours.Well that is true and it also goes for him.Nobody ever makes excuses for winning.You can tell Ozzie still has problems dealing with that loss, and losing Homer. Or he wouldn't keep talking about it.It just means the man is human and makes mistakes thats not bashing.

 

On one hand Ozzie says he had no say in the match and then he tells Billy no to the draw.Which one is it either he had no say or he did have some say?If Ozzie did have some say why didn't he insist on handling his own dog?Billy wanted to use Homer because Angus couldn't go for what ever reason and they didn't want to pay the forfeit.There is enough blame to go around on how Homer was handled by all involved.Homer was a great dog and produced well.But Jeep won the match its not Jeep and Crenshaw's fought their opponent didn't do their jobs.I think Homer would have went on to produce as well as Jeep did if he lived.I am more of a fan of Homer then Jeep.But Jeep won and thats a fact .

Ok guys a show of hand how many of U saw the show ?? I did homer was game very dead game in fact but jeep won and that is the facts also Ozzie screwed up big time !! But so have I and any other man who has done these dogs for any period of time. I can asure you it bothers him as mine still bother me but hope we all have learned from our screw ups !!!! There is no magic fourmula for these dogs there is hard work and lots of luck !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks RED after more than 25 years with these hound sure hope Im right once in awile LOL . I find on this sight most of the guys have never worked one ! And its all speculation with them and there are more than a few who think they know it all !!! problem with that is they almost always lose the dog when we started you spent lots of years cleaning up shit after the dogs before someone would give you one or even let you buy one !! I sure miss the times when I was doing road work and almost everyone would ask what kind of dog is that GOD I MISS THOES DAYS .................

Yes I agree again with you OTD. I walked the dogs ,cleaned shit up,fed the dogs,go get supplies, work around the yard.and a number of other things.Top dogmen would be over and they didn't even know my name ,but that was cool.I wasn't into the dogs for fame.I really loved doing all that.Its called paying your dues.People need to learn how to take care of the dogs first, but very few want to put in the time or work to do it correctly.

 

Ozzie on sportsmanship,now thats funny right there.Its like O.J. on marriage.After Buns was gone that guy couldnt buy a match with any real dogmen.

You better do some research my friend.Ozzie was one of the best in his time, period.The guy beat the best and only the best beat Ozzie.Ozzie used his own dogs conditioned and handled them also.You have to give credit where its do . Dogmen knew if they went into Ozzie everything better be right. First use a very good dog ,condition them to perfection ,and you better be able to handle well to have a chance.Thats a fact.Ozzie made some mistakes but he didn't make many ,and to beat him you better be 100% on.

Oh wow I didnt know ozzie was such a celb around here.Ya see I remember him a little differently.He matched a lot of dogs for $300. into Buns and the brothers around Pitts,he sold a lot's and lot's of puppies.Back when his wife was sick he used to rip off a lot of people,but the most let it slide,then after that was were Brain came in as he had a lot of death threats,and also why Brain dissapeared.The only one I ever seen him match into more than once was Buns,so who were all "the best" that he went into? He did have some good dogs but that was because of his friendship with Walter,and he cranked out a ton of puppies,the very thing Walter was against.I was there back then and saw with my own eyes,I didnt read it from a book.You want to talk dogmen from that area,Fergie matched way more dogs and you could at least get a fair fight out of him.

 

he went into crenshaw STP. and many more so there are ur great dogmen. and wat the hell does 300 dollars got to do with it or are u one of those ppl that thinks a high purse makes better dogs

 

He beat STP and CAK on more than one occasion and in there backyard! J. Kelly is another I can think of off the top of my head!
