    Two right points above!

There´s also a thing of "putting" a dog in if the female doesn´t stand properly and the dog is to excited to hit the spot!
You need one person to push the female up another one to secure her head and one that pushes the male in!
Hell of a job but over here we don´t have breeding stands and had to do it from time to time! LOL!

Assuming the bitch is in heat, dilated and is physically ready to breed stabilize her in a good breeding stand and take her to the male. The male should be tethered. Allow the male to mount the bitch and guide him into the sweet spot. Once he has penetrated her hold him firmly agist her until he securely knots up in her. Then gently lift him off of her and place him rear to rear of the bitch. Then move the bitch and the stand away from him so that he cannot turn around and touch her. Remain there with them both until the tie releases. This will usually occur in 30 to 60 minuets. Upon release of the tie remove the bitch from the stand and safely return her to her quarters. In the event you still have problems call a dogman for help.

Sometimes it ain´t necessary to put them into the rear to rear position!
If my english would be better I could tell you on detail what I mean.
If you have no breeding stand and have to do it with muscular power they can heat into different directions and hurt themselves severly.
This technique is used by a Bullterrierbreeder who introduced me into that and he has a 99% rate that the female gets pregnant!
No bullshit! Seen that happen did it also myself and it´s successfull!

Fertile ejaculate will not flow properly without the the delivery unit turned in the rear direction. There may be some rare exceptions to this rule but in most every case this is the basic correct form for breeding. This includes the collection of live semen for fresh and frozen AI. No need to reinvent the wheel here. The basic physical form for dog breeding as I described above has been working since the canine species first surfaced on this planet.

The direction I gave will enable this fellow to do the breeding by himself. If he does not have a stand it will take more than just him to do the breeding if the bitch is uncooperative.

  10. I can't speak on the rest of what you wrote, but the part about collecting semen and the delivery unit turned in the rear direction is wrong I've had several males collected and none were pointed in the rear direction when collected and there was no problems with or getting a collection............

You must be the sperm Houdini, or have some very special hands then because i have never gotten good viable sperm from a BULLDOG until the unit was directed to the rear and collected. My vet is a 30 year canine reproductive specialists and he always makes the final collection from the rear. I am not saying it is impossible for you to collect the other way and really it is pointless to argue with you about it however in the 30 years that I have been breeding dogs I have always made ties. The anatomy of the dogs are in fact set up to do just that. That is unless you have some overdone mongrel that cannot breed naturally.

  12. No, http://caninesemenbank.com/ , they are the sperm Houdini's my man, and all I have to do is look out back at a few I have from semen collected from bulldogs of mine who's dick didn't have to be turned backwards to be collected, I to have been doing this for 30ish give or take a year or two if that matters, I'm not trying or will I argue with you just letting others no what you said was bullshit thats all nothing personal...........

  13. Use a breeding stand or hold her up without getting in the males way which can be tricky. The only reason i would say she is moving to this position is your male is to heavy and she is dropping her back end or you have not caught her on the right day so she is not fully comfortable.

Sometimes the male happens to be smaller than the female!
Funny to look at! But somehow they are able to manage it!

there's no need to turn them. greyhound breeders almost never turn them. its not necessary.

Well i guess i am just going to have to try that sometime. If I don't turn them what position should I hold them in while they are locked up for an hour?

From my experience my partner and I assisted the male. It was both the female and male first to breed. My partner held the bitch by the collar and i reached down to help the male penetrate. Good the male wasn't shy.

there's a few things here that was said that's wrong but the rest right . we all do things different . when they collect you will see him pull down not back just alittle. some vet may do different . and if your not watching good you would never see him do it . if they're old i leave the male on top of her as long as i can before i get tired . then turn him so not to bite . when they're old they nut up slower and not as big as they were young and fall out easy. it's best to use a stand because it's easier . but i like to do it myself . put the bitches head between my legs and have someone bring the male close enough to breed but not fight . put your arm under her stomach . and don't let her sit down . they are butt heads sometimes and want to breed the male and will sit or sit if they're not ready or many other reasons . bring the male to her and let him smell and mount . then been over and guide him in .to many people around just makes it worse . this is all easier said than don't . but you can do it .
