If you truly are going to keep everything and check it then I say its on your dime so whatever. But your whole first post smells of bullshit so you would probably be better off forgetting about it and getting some other breed. If you want to hunt get a coon dog.

Honorable intentions best to let the guys breeding tested stock do the breedings. If it were me I would just buy another dog from the dog man you bought the first one from and hunt with that dog. It's much easier to just get a dog from a good dog man that's been breeding good dogs for years than it is to start from scratch and have to fuck up and cull a bunch of dogs. Good luck to you.

  4. +1, You aint got the balls to tell your wife your testing the dog but your gonna be man enough to run a litter of pups on to 14-18months then cull them, dont make me laugh.....

  5. The post seems lame to me. The breeder has 40 years experience and he will allow him to breed a puppy to one of his studs. Seems lame to me.

Hey Lakewood,.......the way I understand it, if the stud has a golden dick, you could stick it to an embryo and still get game dogs.

  8. I'll tell you the truth Hiker, when he said the breeder had 40 years experience breeding dogs, the golden dick concept came to mind. I guess we will never know.

  9. I bet the guys fundation stud dog is 40 years old and still producing as well!!, seems to be a common occurance with "alot of these reputable dogmen" peddlers...

  10. So the breeder's name is all over the ped. Lol. He cannot show it because of this. But he is on a public board asking about testing, culling and all illegal stuff.

Sounds like he is looking to make friends.

  11. HAHAHA. Didn't even read all the replies.
Shouldn't have bought your wife such a well bred dog to have as a pet... what a waste. Should have kept the dog for yourself and bought her another. My dogs are my dogs in my house, my husband doesn't get to touch them besides petting them.
Second of all, find another well bred pup, shoot get another off the same breeder if you so desire.

There are PLENTY of people with nice private well bred yards with proven/tested dogs. The fact you want to breed an untested dog in the first place tells me you have no place breeding right now. In my very own and very honest opinion.

No fuckin doubt, this thread is ridiculous and the sad thing is so are most of the responses...

Check the thread are we all a bunch of hypocrits!

Well some stated that you never should breed to untested or cold stock and so on, the usual gospel!
But people did it all the time!
Some did good the majority didn´t!
Anyways, why are you so hot about getting into criminal activities take the risk that your dogs are put down and get yourself imprisoned anyways?
    And as a side note.......
if you are that impatient about things getting started within any aspect you´d better should not deal with dogs at all as they do need time to mature and everything else doesn´t come from one day to another......
Patience is the key within dogs and many other things in life........

if your not going to do anything w/the bitch in order to make a somewhat decent breeding why try breeding? there are too many of those guys. you can go back to the breeder like you said and breed back to his stud sure for some money. its all about money and your just going to inbred on a dog not made worthy to breed. take that dog to a conformation show let the wife show her or something since she already told you her opinion on the situation and at least if your not testing the bitch traditionally, hunting or anything else you can still put a title in front of the dogs pedigree. it will show you at least tried to breed properly and the wife can have a bit of fun with her. you always have to make the wife happy forget about what that other guy said. if not keep her as an inside dog and get another for your set intentions.

My only advice is be careful when taking shortcuts. They more times than not put you farther away from your goal than you were to begin with. Take the next two years of this pups life and learn as much as you can. While your at it save every dime you can. Then after the two years decide if you want to breed that untested gyp or spend that money on a tested bitch. Just putting two dogs together is not even close to preserving the breed. If that is what you want to do the first thing you need to figure out is what exactly you are preserving.

i like that statement there magnoilaotis.

  17. WTF, why does that make us all hypocrits? Because some people did... a great breeder doesn't. Some poeple, does NOT include me or anyone I respect as a breeder.
All the people/yards I've been looking at dogs off of are ALL proven in conformation along with at least one working/sport title and CGC/CGN etc.

Earl Tudor many times would kill all the bitches in the litter and only match the males then sell them for the highest dollar. He believed that this would cut down on the numbers of dogs avaliable to the competition as well as the public, if the males worked out he always had the source they came from and could repeat the breeding. To detirmine the worth of a bitch back in those days one would look more at her production rather than her ability or gameness, nowadays everyone has their own formula for success and some test the bitches hard, some dont, some win some dont, their your dogs, do whatever you want with them.

Many Hall of Fame breeders did so while they have stated the opposite!
    So these are hypocrits!

The thing that gets me is all the assumptions about a dog being able to produce or not based on being tested. Plenty of proven dogs never produced. There's been plenty of proven curs produce their nuts off. In most cases I would say if you like the blood that much, go ahead and breed her to a proven producer. This will give you a better idea of how she can produce. But since you've stated that you intend to test, cull, and hunt to the whole world wide web, I'd say you're an idiot who will hurt this breed more than you'll ever help it and you might consider letting your wife keep the dog and buying yourself a chia pet
