Can A Cur Dog Be A Game Dog?

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by bob, Oct 14, 2005.

  1. Once a dog has showed game???? If "Gameness" is an is or is not type of word...How would one show game? I think you believe in a levels of gameness but just do not know it.

Also, if gameness is all that matters in a dog, why did they bother (pre-1976 laws), weighing a dog? It should not matter if a dog is heavier than another if they were only testing "Gameness". According to many, Gameness was what was tested not ability.

  2. A deep game dog without ability equates to a "Dead Game". I take a deep "skilled" dog with untested "Game" over a tested "Game" dog with little ability.

A dog that wins events without having to endure physical tribulations will live longer and retire in better shape. Think of boxing or MMA: A boxer (or MMA practitioner) that cannot fight but will not quit will retire early and badly.

They will ALL quit when put under certain circumstances , sum just die before they can prove they quit !!!!!

Who's to say a deadgame dog wouldn't have quit if circumstances were a little different ?

To answer to the topic title though.....
""Can A Cur Dog Be A Game Dog?""

NO !!! a cur is never a GAMEdog, a cur is just that a cur ....a GAMEdog atleast shows to have gameness enough to head back into the fight even though he's getting the worst of it !!!!!

No! A cur can not be a gamedog because its a cur! Lots of questions come out on this thread and everyone has made a point seems. If you have two top notch dogs it comes down to the men conditioning the dogs. The man that handles the training better and knows his stuff will have a better chance to win. Gameness has no levels its just game! There are different levels of curs such as 10min, 15min, 30min and so on, this is how you would set the levels of curness! hehehe. Unless a dog has been pushed to the brink of death most will never see a game dog anyway!

I agree, also agree, it's not that it's the levels of gameness, it's the level of curs........:) Its either game, or not.........

When I was a kid Bob Hemphill told me 9 out of 10 dogs quit.
Most dogs quit because of conditioning.

So I thought the best thing to do was condition my dogs better.
What he really meant was very few would take their death and conditioning was the main reason why they quit.

A dog quits when it gets tired, frustrated and hurt.
When a dog tires he can't stay out of trouble and gets hurt.
When a dog tires he can't work the other dog as good to make him quit.
When he tires and is behind, he gets frustrated and quits.

    Very few are deadgame.
If you stay in dogs your whole life you be able to count on your two hands the dogs you owned that were deadgame.

A good dogman can tell a pit dog in 5 to 10 minutes.
    I didn't say "gamedog"...

Remember the rules and the bet, no where did it say or you said anything about the dogs being required to be deadgame.
Don't give him a reason to quit in practice.
Don't leave his best show in the gym.

If a dog quits once, will quit again.
A dog that stands on all 4 and can walk or crawl and quits, is not a game dog nor is he a deep gamedog.
If fact, he wasn't even game enough to win.........

its sad really when you start or give your opinion on a question, and get a reply like the above ! in this game you have to keep an opened mind, perhaps your mentor might of read about one or two dogs i exported to the u.s.a , then that was before he got involved in the game ! as for my "vocabulary" well i choose as a lad to learn all about dogs, and i am doing fine !even learned to you use this computer ! dont even know why i am writing this, for you have jumped the pit and ran away.............. speak to your mentor.......... he might sponge your mouth..........and bring you back to your computer........

  13. General and Saiyagin,

It sounds like both of you are knowledgable and care about our breed and history. The bad part is that both of you are using your energy to belittle one another instead of granting us your wisdom.

    Respect.
