your dog is young so it's not to important now . but just start walking him and that will start to working his legs . when he's 18 months get a weight pull harness and let him pull a tire or chains . start out with light weight and then watch how good or bad he does so you know when to add more weight or take some away . and always have a water bottle with you so if he gets to hot you can give him some water . good luck

you want a high protein food or feed heaps of meat, which is mostly protein.

You could also do some flirt work just not too long or too rough yet.

Genetics plays a big role but good diet and regular hand walking does wonders....

A good pair of running shoes and a six foot lead. If he pulls you down the road it is a plus. As long as the lead is tight there is work being done. Feed him quality food. As the work increases up the fats and the proteins. Adjust the food accordingly to the individual dog. Your dog will get stronger over time. I would never worry about building muscle. Most bulldogs are muscular and proportionate underneath the extra layer of fat most people keep on them.
After a few weeks of long hand walks the next stage would be to drag some weight behind him. Like lifting weights go in sets. Pull a tire for 40-50 yards and drop the tire, walk a few minutes and drag the tire again. A couple of sets of four or five reps and increase as the dog easily completes the task. Chains can be used as well.
Be creative with the exercises as all dogs will not do the exercise we think they should. Try anything that keeps him moving at a steady pace, biking, running, swimming, etc..etc.. When you find the ones he really likes getting one in shape is so much easier. It takes time. Best of luck. S

tom garners website links to a website that has vitamins that might beef a dog up there is also nuvet I don't know if it works or not my dog used to pull me on a bike with me barely peddling and his shoulder and back legs got rock hard and he wasn't the kind of dog to put on weight easy "' tall and slender build ''if I wanted to make a dog buit I would use a springpoll and weights plus high protein dog food and vitamins or that kind tg has that has creatine in it which I have taken myself and work him about 2 or 3 times a week.

As mentioned, Let them bones and joints mature before considering resistance type of exercise for sure.

Couple hours on a chain will do wonders too.

With pulling weight, I will attach some resistance, chain or a rope with like 3.5 lbs steel weight and let them pull off the collar. I use a big ring to attach leach and then attach drag to the collars D ring. This style will work the front end. A pull harness will work the back end.

Some spring pole work and flirt pole is also good.

I prefer Flirt pole and hand walking for the majority of exercise. Spring pole as a treat on off days or days I'm being lazy. ;)

Be creative, keep it fun, encourage work with positive words and attitude. If you are happy the dog will know it and will work harder!

7 mo of being on here. Either you dnt read/search old post or you cant comprehend what you read. Not tryn to bash but almost every thread you asking ? that have been answered. Post less, read more. The saying is the only dumb ? is the one you dont ask. But with some ofyour post you kill me what u askn about. Thus d responses you recieve. Slow down buddy. Knowledge is power. And quit askn what a dog weighs. More important what that dog has done. Bullymax almost has as many threadson it as TG has on him and his dogs. Well, not almost. But u gt what im saying?

sorry I forgot to research it and the dogs weight is important to me as are there titles and usually when someone post a dog up they tell about there titles so I don't need to ask. I look for dogs that are above average in size for weightpulling plus hog hunting I don't want 120lb monsters just solid dogs in the 55 to 70 lb range in my experience the tall 70lb dogs are much stronger than a 40lb one and it just my preference but I am not trying to breed for size as in bigger and bigger dogs, I can comprehend what I read, I just have not read every thread, so what is your problem with asking what a dog weighs ? when it is a legitimate question when your looking for a bulldog above 50lbs ?
