I think Staffords are incredible little dogs! However, I think the Stafford in the picture you posted is a very poor example of the breed. It is an over exaggerated caricature of what a Stafford should be. The head is too large, the muzzle is too short, it has too much substance of bone, and overall it is too much dog on too little leg. Just like the APBT, Staffords should possess total balance and look as if they could do the job they were originally intended to do. As for their temperament, Staffords should be absolutely bombproof around people, from children to adults, which makes them great family pets as long as they are given plenty of daily exercise. I know the owners of Intredpid, and because of health problems in the breed, which are not known to the APBT, I would suggest you educate yourself as much as possible on hereditary cataracts (HC), persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV), and hydroxyglutaric aciduria (L-2-HGA) before purchasing a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy from any breeder. If you have any questions regarding Staffords just pm me.

    Blitzkrieg,

I do not have permission. I got them from the ukterrier board, let me know if I need to remove the images. I was showing them as examples of fitter versions of the breed.

His arguement was that this is a "game dog" site and that the owner may not want her dogs displayed on here with people thinking they are "game dogs" or "pit bulls." The title of the thread is "Staffordshire Bull Terrier" which is a breed often labeled as a "pit bull." If you are saying that they may be mistaken for an American Pit Bull Terrier on the other hand, the title should take care of that, especially with the content added to it.

I don't see anything wrong with the pictures being in this thread, looking at it from both sides, top and bottom of the fence. But if the owner feels they should be removed... then they shall be.

Hi Don't worry about posting Pipers picture,
unlike some the owner won't mind,
remember there is always some1 wanting to poke there nose in for no other reason than being an ass.

the owner is a friend of mine & I also own a pup from the piper.

I had one as a kid, rock hard temperments they have. Very good family dogs, some have high prey drive, dog agrressive traits etc. Bully traits in other words.

Mine was "hot" for a cur,......nuff said

I had one for 6 years.....he was a hell of a dog. In fact he actually had a prey drive comparable to many gamedogs...lmao. Found out a 6ft. fence wasn't about to keep him from "playing" with other dogs.

They're some what uncommon here in the States, although not as rare as some might think.

Great dogs! Just like the APBT, some lines have been 'dumbed down' for the show ring. While no where near as popular as bulldogs, SBTs are unfourtunately becoming just another acessory in the US.

They are great dogs with ROCK solid temperaments. My grandparents had one when I was young, that dog took all the abuse a toddler could throw at it with a smile. He had a high prey drive, and neighbors quickly learned to NOT let there dogs and cats wonder into my grandparents yard. He also loved to chase and catch raccoons. Pretty typical of a bully IMO.

I can say that line of staffords are very unlike your show type they tend to run more athletic & most who own a dog from these lines tend to breed for the old type dog be4 the kennel club ruined them.
I have a son out of that Bitch :D
