My dad got blueberry bushes and grape vines..Makes good wine. His wife makes jam and jelly and stuff.I mostly just fool with pecans.I got some hybrids I planted 4 yrs ago so I am anxious to see how they will produce and the quality they will prroduce.I am exppecting high quality from them.I bought 50 lbs of pecans from the guy I got the hybrid tree s from..Cracked them and loved the taste and they had plenty of oil and wasnt too hard to crack..So I should get the same.I also made some pies with them, roasted some also.I liked them alot. But I got tree s from a swamp in Louisiana that produce great and are of high quality..I also have some Elliots and Stuarts that do very well for me.I enjoy doin it and its a nice and easy way to help your income. Not much work involved.

  2. Stay prepared for some more cold like we had. It may not come again but better safe than sorry, and here (CTX) the coldest month is usually February. Since around October last year I noticed an abundance of animals. This I'm sure is due to the fact that we didn't have a terrible drought like we usually do. But, every fur bearing animal I noticed had heavy coats, and damn if they ain't as thick coated as i have seen them in my 20 years of hunting. Coyotes, coon, deer, fox, hell even all of the hawk I'm seeing are big and fluffy.

By me they say when the bees are nasty that means a cold winter , well the bees were NOT nasty this fall so I think in reality wile some creatures can sorta indicate whats probable .
Events occur that catch anyone including creatures by surprise.

Any way there are factors that are not a part of nature that could through off natures predictors ,
the Human race causes such a impact that is not GREEN so - year to year - day to day - it's like a new deck of cards each week.

I don't keep my dogs outside so there not used to the cold for more then a few hours but when I did it's amazing how a short haired dog can deal with the cold it's not there choice but they deal & stay healthy.
I've seen Pits from Russia and most parts are cold there . Some pics show a Pit and snow.

...we(uncle+some family) have kept bees for a few genarations...over the years the big problem, apart from disease wipeing out hives,is false springs,,,were the queen would activate to early+workers start going out and then ...bang.....a big frost...snow/ice ...can wipe them all out...this is happening all over the world as=well as super mites/etc/etc.......

    Interesting you should mention
I remember a couple of recent winters (a few years ago ) that the whole winter was very mild like one week of cold then 2 weeks warm, even when cold was not to bad , So in came the early spring, for all apple trees and other fruit trees that started blossoming early.
Then out of left field a cold ice storm took them out (the flowers of the trees)

But over all I believe there is research that spring is earlier for the entire world .
Causing plants and bugs to start sooner.
But the natural bird predators are still south . There theorizing if and when birds will follow the new trend

spring is earlier by around 30 days - Google Search
