  1. Hi everyone, I'm new here and thought I should introduce myself. I live in the mountains of Humboldt County and have an APBT (Jeep/Nigerino) and a pack of hunting hounds, my pride and joy. I've been interested in game dogs and fowl since I was little and hope to own some more in the near future.

Here is my bulldog. He is retired from catching hogs due to injuries and is making a great ranch dog/house dog.

Some hounds. I only keep the best of the best and these guys have it all, grit, stamina, nose.

Welcome to Game-Dog! Good lookin crew! SoHum or NorHum?

  6. I had his ped at one point but no longer have it in hand. His sire and dam were both from Ed Faron and I bought him from someone else at 5 months old. He is now 9 years old. Full of fire but would forget about dogs when a hog was around, and always caught on the ear. Used him as a catchdog for 6 years until he busted both ACL's.
I'm in SoHum, Mattole River area.

nice country, you folks get much snow up there?

  8. Usually from a few inches in the valleys up to a couple feet at higher elevations in the winter. Last winter we have no snow whatsoever and about 1/3 the amount of rainfall...

I have a few very good friends not far from you at all, very beautiful area up there. I know this last year there was very little rain up there, a drought for your standards. I know it rains and rains during part of the year there but was totally opposite this year. Beautiful dogs and scenery, please share anytime.

Good looking crew. I really like that black and tan hound.

  17. Thanks for the comments and welcomes everyone. The pig population is very low the past few years. I don't even hog hunt much since my two good hog dogs are dead and my catch dog is crippled. Besides, my current pack is too gritty, and too wide ranging, and would end up catching a hog miles away, which could be bad. We stick to game that will tree and only will bay up only occasionally.

My black and tan (SlobberDoc Pumpkin Seeds) is a looker...what a personality...one of the most loyal dogs you could find plus a good hound on all game. Bear is the first hound in the first post, he is a Walker Hound mix. He is the grittiest of my pack and believe it or not I can call him off a cold track a mile away and he will come to me. Grizzly is the Plott pup, he is from good bloodlines and should make a good hound.

Here is my Kemmer Mountain Cur. She is still young and figuring things out. I'm not used to owning a dog with brains and sense like she does.

Also two old coyote hounds (July Hounds). They are 13 years old and spend their days stealing bones from each other and than fighting over them...
