I know nothing really about all this other than this was something special and hasn't happened since the 70's. I did see the owner of the Secretariat there, which i thought was really cool.

1978 Was the year. It was a good year, it put out some good ones......lol.

Missed the race, changed the channel, forgot and got.the txt when it was over. Would have been sweet to watch. Would have been the first triple crown winner since I was born.

It was an incredible thing to watch. The fee would probably be close to 100k. He hasn't shown he can produce winners yet.

First time they bred Secretariat I believe it was to an Appaloosa. When he won the Belmont by 30 lengths they could have bred him to a donkey and I would have been happy to own it. That was a horse !!!

I've been going since I was a toddler with my grandparents. Horse racing is one of the oldest ancient sports of all time!

I watched this show the other night about some guy in Kentucky who mortgaged his farm, his house and everything he owned to pay a $250,000 stud fee to the owner of a Kentucky Derby winner and the big money race at the end of the race year. They never said his name and I am not into the horses, so I would not know.

He made the breeding and the colt was at auction. The bids were in the $800-900,000 range when some old guy asked for an extra odd ball, 'reversed' X-ray. The X-ray was taken and all bids were withdrawn and the colt ended up going for a hundred thousand or so. The guy lost it all. It's called the "Sport of Kings" because you have to have a King's money to play.

American Pharoah as a producer is still in question. He will get the next 25 years to do so. If I am into horses and I see that level of performance, well, I'm scratching all my pennies together.

I don't know about horses but in dogs people will breed to a proven winner at a faster rate than they will a proven producer. Old guy once told me, "Don't breed to the dog, breed to the dog that made the dog". I'm guessing horses would be the same, but like dogs most people won't listen. S

That's crazy, most of those people probably bet on a different horse, but they realised they were witnessing something special, history in the making. Respect!
