First new pup in a while. First post.

Hey everyone, I've just put a deposit down on a new pup so I decided to switch from a forum creeper to an actual member of your community.

The pup I got is from Tom Garner's yard, out of his Ceasar X Aliyah breeding. I've read quite a bit about Mr. Garner and his dogs and I realize people have different opinions about him. I will say that he seems like a straight shooter and no one can deny his knowledge of the breed and contribution to the breed. He's been a pleasure to deal with so far.

Being from PEI, Canada if I wanted a quality dog my only option was to import / ship one too me. As luck would have it my in-laws are traveling back from Florida near the first of May and have agreed to pick the pup up on the way through North Carolina.

Anyhow I just wanted to share my story with you all. I'll post a picture of the pup. I asked Mr. Garner for his recommendation and he thought this guy was the pick of the litter. I'd love to hear opinions on this pup and the breeding.

What do you guys think about his coloration. I'm sure he's a buckskin, however, I searched this forum for other buckskin dogs and they all seem quite a bit lighter then this fellow looks. If you look closely you can even see black hairs through out his coat.

What are your opinions? Anyone have a picture of a similarly colored dog? Almost like a red fawn mixed with black?

 

Maritimer Look up his Dynomite dog on peds or his website. Tom is a great breeder its that with some of his top studs of the past some stuff has always had some fishy story behind it.
I really like the Conan dog, but its because of the people that had him before he got to Toms.

 

I'm not implying there is anything fishy with the pup. Just looking for similar looking dogs. From what I've seen he's pretty dark when compared to other buckskins I've seen.

 

Ceasar is a proven dog and he has great comformation too. The pedigree of your dog looks great as well. Is this your first APBT?

I've owned pit bulls before. Our last was with us for 14 years. We had to put her down back in the fall due to a uteren infection. She was a cur but a great family dog and my kids loved her.

I've been reading about and researching game dogs for years, and I've always been drawn to the Chinaman blood. A few weeks ago I decided to give TG a call and told him what I was looking for. This is the pup he recommended.

I've heard the true story of Ceasar (aka Bo) legitimizing him as the real deal. I've also been reading good things about Tom's other stud Kemo who is the grand sire to this pup.

All in all I've got high hopes for this boy.

I'll be sure to keep you all updated on his progress.

Why wouldnt he be good around friends and family? Tom aint known for man biters like that!!

 

I'm not sure what the intent of your question is? There are no guarantees with any pup from any bloodline, or from any breed for that matter.

How do you deal with curs or man-biters?

I suppose I'll cross that bridge if / when I get to it.

Raise him right and you'll be fine .The game dogs I've had and been very close to were awesome family dogs. Gameness is not aggression.

 

I have had plenty and all raised in house first with kids then outside on chain spot with the accasional inside for some love and affection if your the cal type (rare). All super friendly and some friendly but so hyper not for small kids. Honestly its all on the owner and the pups first imprint. Are there nuts out there? hell yes, but I can bet its mostley once that don't get that attention and are thrown on a chain spot with no interaction what so ever but feed and water or to be looked at. Now this is just an opinion and a small look into how I like to run things on imprinting any dog thats under my responsibility. Ive also have experience with bite patrol dogs as a handler for a big time contractor in the sand box, those fucking dogs are nuts! A good licking to show them who's boss is a weekly tiring job.

If you could have gotten a guarantee, what kind of guarantee would you have preferred?

 

A guarantee that the dog shit gold bricks, and threw pups that did the same.
