wanna get my dog back help please

hey i just wanted to know one thing al right let me start off by telling you guys what happened i went to florida for a week and left my dog with my cousin apparently he couldn't keep it in his house so he gave it away , now i know who has it but the person doesn't seem to wanna give it back is there any way i can get it back by court or calling the cops (oh yea i don't have any papers for the dog but i do got the ears of when i cropped them,no i didnt crop them myself the vet asked me if i wanted the ears) please help me itz been two months without my dog

 

Take back whats yours! If your cousin "sold" something that wasnt his, explain it to the man and reimburse him for his "loss". If the guy gave your cousin 100 bucks for the dog, offer the gentlemen 150. Really why have you waited this long to take action? The longer you wait the less chance you have of getting that dog back!

 

Well hell, that oughta make identification easy. Just match up the cut offs to the dogs ears...."if they match, they gotta give him back"...lol.

But seriously, go buy your dog back, and give your cousin a few wisdom lumps to help remember this. And to remind him to reimburse the money you laid out for your own dog.

 

Good post Crash. This thread should be a warning to all members who have yet to find someone they can trust to watch their dogs while they cannot. I hear stories all the time of just giving the dog to a friend for a week (or a cousin in this instance),and either he cant take care of them and gets rid of it.....the dog escapes and the owner comes home to find his dog in the pound with a huge fine......etc. All things can happen, you need to have people you can truly trust care for your animals during a time when you cant because they are taking a huge burden, and only the most trustworthy will handle the load and continue to do the right thing.

 

That sucks man. If you want to take him back using the force of law you will probably need eye witnesses to testify that it is in fact your dog and they'll need to testify in court. It's possible but it'll be alot of trouble. Your best bet is probably to go with Crash and Rocks advice and buy him back, then try to make your cousin reimberss you.

 

And people look at me like I'm nuts for taking my dog everywhere with me.

if the dog is definatly yours just go help yourself to it.i know for a fact if someone had a dog of mine there would be nothing that was to stand in my way of getting it back!!as for the so called cousin well.where do you start ?wake up to yaself and go get ya bloody dog

 

If no one is around, take back your dog. If not, get a lawyer. No one likes dealing with those fools.

I have to agree with Savage, I'd go to that guys house and tell him we could handle this one of two ways, either give me my dog back, or get you a ass whoopin and I take my dog back. They wouldn't be no givin the guy any money back either, if he wanted he's money back he'd go get it off the so called cousin. and after all that was said and done, I'd go take care of my cousin

Now Now people.. arent we supposed to be trying to set a good example here? We're only hearing one side of the story..

Maybe the person with the dog didnt Know it wasnt the cousin's dog to legally sell or give away or whatever. Just go to his door, knock on it and present him with whatever you have..pictures, vet records, take a witness or maybe even had the breeder of the dog supply you with information. Explain to the person what happened, that you are very sorry they got involved and you and your family miss the dog greatly and are here to take it back. I would also make your cousin go along with you so he can give an apology to the person and hand him his money back, plus reimburse him for food or anything else. Maybe also offer to assit the person in finding their own dog (since they like yours so much..put him in contact with the dogs breeder)

unless the person knew 100% that it was your dog and your cousin wasnt supposed to sell or give it away.. but give the person the benefit of the doubt for the time being.. It wasnt too smart on their part but people make mistakes.. It might have been a spur of the moment thing..

Then beat the snot outta your cousin lol..

 

Man up! Go over there jump his fence grab your dog and walk away. If he says something, tell him to talk to your cousin about it and drive off.

 

exactly,, when they stole mine ,,i walked up in broad open daylight and got him,,they came running out of the house and the damn fools had the nerve to call the police,,,of course i didn't want them involved because they wouldn,t do anything to them anyways(and didn't) so i could handle them, thus i've had to wait a while but its bout time i deal with that problem lets see how they feel

 

yea i would take him back if i was you if he says somethin stupid smack him in the mouth lol whats he gonna do tell the cops your stealing "youre" dog back...take a few buddies if your scared lol

 

Theres a diffrence between someone stealing your dog and your cousin giving it to them two months ago!

 

If you waited this long and they may ask why you didn't try to get your dog back as soon as you arrived. I know I wouldn't have waited 2 months to get our dog back.

Go to the vet where the ears were cropped and get some paperwork as proof, go to the guy explain things real nice, bringing up the fact that you have witnesses, maybe you have some photos, ear clippings-he he-just kidding! and flash some paperwork and with your cell phone in hand threaten bringing the law into the picture. With that and some cash to offer, I really don't see what kind of idiot would resist you.

If he does knock him out and whistle for your dog!!!
