Strength vs Endurance vs Agility vs Speed

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by Kerberos91, May 29, 2023.

  1. He's got 4 or 5 books on the breed, you'll enjoy them, I bet near enough every person in to the breed have read at least one of his books.

  2. Anyways, back to the topic. I think we all agree that weight matters and weight (if trained right) means more strength, so maybe strength should be placed a little higher in that list? Or would you say endurance and mouth are still more importand?

And before ssdd gets mad again, i got it, they dont match light dogs vs heavy dogs. Its just HYPOTHETICAL, im not planing to match a Pomeranian against a Rottweiler ~X(

  4. Who knows what's more important, it's impossible to say, the key thing that sets these dogs apart are their gameness.

  5. I guess youre right, its really hard to say. A good mix would be ideal of course but who knows what a good mix means exactly

  7. Without their gameness the breed would be just any old mutt.

A more important factor is height to weight ratio. Generally speaking the taller the dog is at weight the better. Taller rangier dogs more often than win over shorter stockier opponents.

  9. It's like boxing, more length means more reach, more control, easier to frustrate your opponent, keep them from getting set. But, sometimes the bull does catch the matador and start putting the hurtin on it's slick opponent.

Nothing to do with how slick a dog is, more to do with leverage and reach. Plenty of rangy dogs out there that were power houses.

  11. Yeah, but it usually plays out that way, the shorter, stockier dog is usually pushing the action with a boring in style and the rangier dog keeping it at bay.

  12. Very good point, didnt thought of that

Not usually. Just because a dog is rangier doesn’t mean it isn’t an offensive dog.

  14. Hmmm idk they are pound for pound really strong and have great speed and stamina. They are also very agile, thats something i noticed when i saw a Pitbull against a Tosa on mail.ru, he could free himself from the Tosa and land a bite that the Tosa couldnt escape from. Of course without the gameness its a big downgrade, but i think they would still be amongst the most efficient breeds. I used to underestimate the Pitbulls strength until i saw those weightpulls, man it has to be the pound for pound strongest breed

  15. It does, do you have the stats on height to win ratio?

  16. I do know, and where do you think their other admirable traits come from, they come from the art of fighting and fighting like no other breed can. There's other breeds out there that a stronger, with more mouth, etc, but none with the gameness of the bulldog, you lose the gameness you lose everything.

  17. Of course without the gameness i also dont think they could defeat lets say a Cane Corso, but i think they would still beat a Laprador.

If we would give the Pitbulls Gameness to a Collie, which has about the same weight as a Pitbull, i dont believe we would have a similar fighter, i just cant see that with a Collie haha

  18. All dog breeds will fight, it's part of their nature. You don't understand the essence of the breed, gameness is everything.

  19. That also brings me back to this other question i had a few days ago. From where did the Gameness in the Pitbull came from? It cant be just from fighting because other breeds getting used for that too, like the Tosa or those Pakistani Gull Terr, Gull Dong and Bully Kutta. Or even hunting Dogs like the Dogo Argentino or the Boerboel, who getting testet against captured boars and Mountain Lions or Leopards. They still dont have the same Level of Gameness (i think) so it cant come just from fighting...
