The guy is sporting a bulldog puppy, no shirt, tatted up, what looks like a hospital wristlet and a Natty Light.

He was definitely 'down south' when this pic was taken. LOL

There is a really cool story about some old timers near here, CH Holly and Max Coates/Jami Long from way back.

She was a bad girl and one of those old timers when comparing her to Jeep and Charlie said, "Bitches are just nasty".

Once I was in the Deep South and ended up in a bar there. A loud big guy from a group of the same type of men came up to me and complimented me on my tattoos and asked to join them for a beer. No sooner said than done. I was shown tattoos of swastikas and swastikas and the gentlemen turned out to be from a local chapter of the KKK and were using the bar as a kind of clubhouse. I got away unscathed just like when I entered the black ghetto of Dallas which was also an experience in itself, LOL.

Learning about the history and culture surrounding dogs worldwide and especially in America is a great experience and life lesson for an enthusiast of the breed.

It happens. I'm from the south and my experience is similar just different cultures/groups.

A few buddies/partners of mine had one set up in the northern part of New Jersey. The night before the show two bailed and the morning of the show the third bailed. It was a 'five per side event' and we were down to two.

Another unfortunate myth but it was just after 9/11 and all Muslims/people with Islamic faith were terrorists. A general discord among the ignorant.

We met at one place and got the train together and did the 'dog man/dog show' parade to the spot. They were a rough group and did the shit talking/intimidating in the yard and then said we have to go inside. I was told to walk my dog out over by this barn and then come in the house.

I did as told and walked into the house. It was one of the more ironic scenes I could ever imagine. If it were a snapshot it would be a room full of Muslims on their knees saying their evening prayers with two fat white guys standing in the background, with one holding a bulldog. The bulldog sort of knew why she was there and acted accordingly. The only thing that was missing was the 'evil middle eastern theme music' they play in every movie.

I was not scared being the two vs. the lie about five per side but we did walk-in/barge in on their evening prayers. I'm thinking this is not going to end well. From there we went to the basement and things were intense. Some were offended by our interruption and others saw us as the enemy in sport and there was a couple that saw two fat white guys from the south with a couple pockets full of money.

It was to the point I thought it would not be such a bad thing to lose, give up the cash and scoot on out but that thought never crossed the female's mind.

It was 61 minutes of anything any one could ever ask on the inside but the outside was not a good place to be.

The split second the show was over, and it was the greatest flipping of a switch I had ever seen or have been a part of sinse. I have never been a part of a complete room where everyone there was about the game. We were congratulated and both sides pitched in to help the other side with anything needed. Once we were both good, we sat around for an hour, talked dogs and but mostly appreciated what the other brought to the table.

We won a show that night but more importantly, we made friends and created memories. We still talk to this day. One of the best clicks of, not just dog men, but people I have ever met.

A tad bit of understanding and a tad bit of communicating, coupled with finding some common ground and most anything can be overcome.

It's just how you present yourself. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Then in most cases it will work out fine.

Funny enough the other day I came across some old photos including an farmers boys bred dog. Was offered him at one stage. Only posting as I got on with his owner and the dog will be dead and gone years ago.

There was a woman over the local park who was a bit of a harmless nutcase. We used to call her scary Mary after that woman from the phones4u advert. She had this Jack Russell she used to call Jack the Ripper as he’d bitten a few people. Used to laugh when he managed to some how get away from her n chase people. Thought like bollocks am I letting it bite me so didn’t pick my dog up when it came at me. Got over to my dog and rolled on his back and after that my dog and him would tolerate each other. One of the only two dogs he got on with…

Apart from the Jack russel, there was a kitchen bred Stafford bitch that he got on with blinding. Two of them would enjoy playing rough together, used to joke that she was his girlfriend. Bitch would chase anyone black or on a bike. What made it funny as fuck was, the dog was literally named good girl. Owned by the local alcoholic, so while she’s going for people he would be sat there on the bench shouting out “good girl” trying to get her to come back. While the persons thinking the drunk is praising her. He was honest about being an alcoholic and didn’t want to change. Lost my wallet one with about 200quid in it which was a lot of money to me as a teenager. Came over the park the next day and Dennis handed me my wallet with everything still inside. Course we walked to the shop that morning to thank him. Probably dead now bless him, not many about as honest as he was….

I saw a few Black Spider dogs, but preferred the STB/Patrick dogs and crosses like Ben Ryan and Rebel Yell.. They were outstanding bulldogs.. Always considered Stevie B a great dogman and true gentleman.

I remember Stevie visiting here once with a member of S.tB. Rebel Yell we went for a walk, but they had locked the animal in the bathroom and there it had eaten a packet of washing powder and the soles of its feet were broken by the powder. This was shortly before the Aligator thing.
