Sounds like he's the type of dog that should be around other dogs. He's not playing, so you don't need to make any "play dates" or anything. I think he is better off with people and should be single.

i no tis hard thow cause i like to excersize the dogs and today i was in a rush so i brought the 2 youngest dogs out at the same time(not thinking agression cause of the young age )

any ideas on how to stop this this is more annoying then u can think

Its more than likely a dominance issue at that age. He is trying to establish he is the "top dog" by doing such behavior.

never thought of it like that but what i didt understand was he was trying to get behind her no matter what she was growling trying everything trying to bite him (wouldnt she b showing dominance)

Dogs sometimes "hump" to initiate play also, this could very well be what is going on. When a dog gets behind another, humps it, and the other turns around to fight-it got its wish.

Sounds almost like humans at the local club.

so would u recomend letting him play with other dogs i seperate all dogs once they hit a yaer of age regardless if friendly cause agression is known to come (when the time is ryght) but should i seperate him now what would you do

I would recommend NOT letting them "play" the other pup is not having a good time and the hump crazy one isn't learning anything helpful.

My female humps everything too. They're right it's dominance.Because he is like that it could start a fight down the road.I'd watch him if you have him around other dogs.If the other dog is submissive there might not be a problem but it's always smart to never let dogs alone.

    I think so too.
a correction is needed EVERY time he does this. If that doesn't help, segregate him for the others.

can u rephrase that for me?

  15. I don't think neither of you are correct this time.

My boy does this all the time and it is not for dominance. Your pup is growing and getting "those" urges. He does not yet know when it's time and when it is not time to breed (just like my dog). Understanding that breeding can only happen when the female is in "heat" is a learned behavior. It has nothing to do with dominance (unless it is done to a male) or that it is "turning on".

As long as the female is not in heat, is at least his size, and it is not aggressive (the female), it should be fine. I have allowed my male to "play" with a female that was a bit larger (fat) than he and he attempted, attempted, attempted for at least an hour but for obvious reasons (vaginal opening) it was impossible. In addition, the female was able to move away.

That and breeding him would be the way to halt (not stop) this behavior. I would suggest the first alternative if this is a problem for you.

IMO, as long as the female is not much smaller than he, let them play with supervision. It will be a good exercise for him and her. At the end, he will get tire of his attempts and do something else. Some growling and even nibbling is expected from the female. That's how they communicate with each other. She's like saying, "Dude, what you're doing? Get off me man!"

Add-in: As I believe this is a possible sign of "awakening" (meaning going from pup to adult), close attention must be given to this "pup" if you currently socialize him with other males.
