I have had this baby since she was about 12 weeks old. Probably the best dog I have owned, and she keeps getting better.

Her gameness is unmistakable and her intelligence is excellent. She is patient when I need her to be. She is game when I need her to be. When it's all said and done, she's part of the family.

My question is, any idea what her pedigree might be as far as bloodlines? I know it's hard to just guess off looks, but to me, I see a little Chinaman in her. What do yall think? Thanks in Advance guys. Pic is from 2009. I live off a lake, so she get's plenty of exercise...

Just some facts: She is about 42 Pounds unconditioned weight. Conditioned weight I can get down to 37 I work her consistently (I work alot). Her color is, obviously, seal...she has some white on her feet that isn't shown in these pictures other than being on her chest. She has done weight pulling in the past, but not recently, and loves it. Her drive is unbelievable at times - a no quitter. She can jump and kill grackles (live in Houston area, we have tons of those basterds) from a stand still. Rabbits, squirrels, mice and other rodents are like foreplay to this littel girl. I hope yall enjoy. Any and All comments are welcome!

You can't tell what a dog's pedigree by what the dog looks like.

You'll NEVER know what she is without papers, and from what I can tell she looks like a mix to me. She has a lab look to her.

...and I acknowledged that. Just looking for opinions. Both her parents were Pitbulls; whether they would be classified as standard APBT's...Im not sure. Her confirmation, to me however, looks right on (physically).

    Did her parents have papers?
Like I said you'll never know what she is without papers.....

Yes sir, the Dam did, the Sire I do not believe was papered. I wish I can say I have pictures of either, but I can't. The dam, if my recollection is correct, was ADBA registered. Finding the contact information of the owner of her may be easier said than done....

If you were to compare her to any specific lines, what would it be? I stated above that she looked like chinaman dogs to me simply because of the longer muzzle, the head is less round, and the over-all appearance. Ill try to find some pictures of some APBT's that are pedigreed and post them here to compare how similar she is to some of them...thanks for the comments and replies.

She looks well cared for and in very good condition. I'd just be happy with that and not worry about bloodlines. You'd more than likely just be chasing ghosts anyway.

You'll never know what bloodline she's from, so just enjoy her for being her. As for the Chinaman assumption, I think it's a little farfetched with the 'longer muzzle' thing. Tell me didn't you just think she's down from chinaman, because he was 'seal' too? Cause that's the only similarity I can find. Other than that the first thing I thought when I saw the first picture was she has some Irish staff in there. Could be just me though.

  12. Stop using that prong collar unless you can take the damn 5 minutes required to learn how to fit it properly. It is a damn training tool, not a fashion accessory.

How to fit a Prong Collar

And, no - no one can tell you if your dog is from Chinaman bloodlines or any other bloodlines just because he is black and weighs 42 lbs.

  13. She looks like a Pit/Lab mix, I have one that looks like her but she is a chocolate color, a GREAT family dog. I don't think that you should worry about what her bloodline is anyway, does it really matter???

    Just curious, I've always wondered.

As far as the collar...I know how to fit it on her, but when I take her swimming behind the house, I do not like it to be tight, hence I add a link or two. I keep the collar on her just incase she sees someone else walkin their dogs around the lake, cause she does not like other dogs without a proper "meet and greet". Also, we all know how people are when they see a loose Pit Bull. That pic was taken after a workout in the lake and a bath...so relax there buddy, don't pull a hernia...

Thanks to everyone else for constructive comments...

If she's a nice smart dog,and you like her, just enjoy her for what she is.You can't tell how she's bred by looking at her.I highly doubt she's got any appreciable amount of Chinaman blood in her though, odds are against it.Also, gameness isn't tested on squirrels and grackles. That would be defined more as "prey drive" but with all that said, you're the one feeding her so if you like her that's the main thing and I wouldn't worry much on how she's bred because you'll never know.Enjoy her and good luck with her.

I know, I've had for almost 4 years now. I wasn't expecting for anyone to tell me, yes she's from "x,y,z" but just a general idea of what she may or might be from historically speaking....that's all.

I always thought Ch. Chinaman was black. To the OP, you have a fine pet there and I wish you luck. Do some reading and try to get a grasp of the term "Game". I see zero similarities.[IMG]

I know what game is; self-sacrificing, courageous, etc. until an outcome is had (the words from this forums definition). Some websites define the word in different ways, but they all generally encompass the same meaning.

My dog is every bit of that. Of course rabbits, rodents, and birds don't test that. However, gameness can be tested and proven by other means.

All in all, this post was to just get some opinions on what the genealogy could be on her. Just general conversation...there is no need for someone to be a smart ass or a jerk. Forums are a place where people go to get information and help; correct me if I'm wrong.
