Colby are the only ones put on a pedestal

Some lines today are bred better with better results than they were fact just like some aren't (lol)

Once again I have no problem with Colby dogs of today. Just there is no reason to put them on a pet pedestal

I have to chime in on this subject. If you want a "nostalgic" dog, then the Colby line will fit your needs perfectly. You can post its seven generation pedigree of nothing but Colby dogs on your living room wall, and be content.
Heres a question to ponder, would any of those dogs in that current seven generation pedigree fit into John P. Colby's breeding philosophy of breeding best to best? If you are lucky maybe one or two at best. Would John P Colby own a dog from untested and non working stock? I've been in, and around the bulldogs for 20+ years, and I cant recall EVEN reading about a pure bred Colby dog winning, or EVEN competing for what John P Colby bred for. I have "heard" of some crosses that at least competed, but thats it.
If I'm wrong, someone please post a certification from a well known publication, and not just some story.

Hater ... plain and simple. Or jealous or envious. I'd bet good money you'd feed a nice Colby dog.
Pet Pedestal LMAO ... funny man. But yeah, a nice Colby is ALL that AND a bag of chips

As I've stated, my Colby is a companion pet and house dog. He will never prove anything that John P. Colby bred for. He will NEVER see the inside of a []. But I have to ask since you have been in and around the bulldogs for 20+ years (a whole bunch longer than I have), what other historical bloodline IS breeding "true". Any? What is being tested and listed on a pedigree at feds online as being tested here in the U.S.? Can you riddle me that?

Ill post more if needed, idk why i need to prove anything. The last one, Sugar, yes was a "cold" dog but produced out the ass. Colby' dogs are the same original dogs from 1800's and 1900's. The very same blood of what all of our dogs came from. It was kept pure so yah i bet all the hybrid mutants of today would destroy most colby dogs with ability. But until any single one of you has proof that colby dogs arent game dogs, why should you keep passing them off as only 'pets'?

Yes at that extreme any would or could win even A modern day Colby. But they don't. They are not the same dogs. They are great pets with history behind them.

The same could be said of MOST of todays APBTs

    Bullshit!

And the fact that most the colby dogs posted are 15-20 years old almost says as much as the fact that you posted a cold dog. You say they are three same dogs but i don't think breeding cold dogs is the same as breeding best to best.
All respect to the line but if i want a working dog I'm going to goto someone who breeds working dogs.

  11. Definitely TRUE!

sure the colbys and other breeders of colby dogs pick what dogs they're gonna breed by prettiest brindle and whitest heads. Why do dogs bred to colby dogs consistantly throw bulldogs? Nobody has any experience with colby dogs so what do you know?

Sounds like you got what you wanted, and thats cool.
First off, most doggers I know of these days stay the hell away from feds on line.
Second, if someone has been in the dogs for more than 20 years, and they tell you their breeding practices havent changed, they are either lying, hangin papers, or ignorant.
Third, define "true", isnt best to best true for the combat dog? Sometimes people get stuck on bloodlines, and lose out on better dogs because they are from a different bloodline.
One thing people tend to neglect in their rationale, is there wasnt many bulldogs around in John P. Colby's day to begin with, none the less combat dogs of a certain caliber.
So, your riddle IS that some people get trapped in breeding off one family (or line) of dogs. Think about that one.

Because the other half of huge ped actually has bulldogs in it? Lol

Is this in response to my question on pure winning Colby dogs? First off, let me enlighten you to peds on line. Anyone can post any nonsense on there, without having to prove anything. I could post my nieces hamster on there, with some made up ped, title her as a double Gr Ch, and a ROM lol. Now, prove it to be a lie lol.
The one from 89-93 may have been I dont know, so post a certificate. The TL Weaver stuff is ridiculous LMAO. And yeah, I knew TL, is he still saying he is a Karate Master with his own school??? And yeah, I seen dogs straight from his yard. Then he went into dodge mode lol... Last I heard of him, he bred to someones grandson of Werdo, and then stiffed them on the stud fee. HOLY CRAP,,, that bitch you listed is the one I heard about that was bred to that grandson of Werdo LMAO!

Dude, you quoted me and seem to be speaking to me, but I didn't post ANY dogs and I DID NOT say they were the same dogs of old LOL ... In fact I said something quite to the contrary but will leave it for you to look up what I said.

But I see it's come to this. We will just go round in circles with haters on one hand and lovers on the other. Ima lover of Colby not a hater. Who's going to get over it first ?? Me or the know it alls who've never fed a Colby dog or likely touched one and/or the Internet doggers (you know who you are) ?? ... okay I'm over it.

I seriously doubt anyone responding in this thread has a dog on their yard right now that's been game tested or they are actively campaigning, but I could be wrong. And if you do match but don't choose to roll with Colby ... I'm okay with that :)

This is absolutely true ... so why post ANY ped to prove ANYTHING. "Your's are true and mine are bullshit" ?? LMAO

I'm okay with a pure line-bred dog from a bloodline over 110 years old. As stated in my fist post in this thread ... if nothing else, it is an historical artifact and something worth passing on if for no other reason than reference. You see, I don't like how many of the bloodlines have evolved, developed and gone off on tangents into fads. Colby's aren't fad dogs and they haven't evolved ... much. I'm okay with that too. Colby was the real deal and I own and feed a direct piece of that deal. My dog doesn't look a lot different than the dogs John P. Colby was standing on a dock in Boston and waiting to find coming off a ship from England and Ireland over 110 years ago. They were some damn fine dogs weren't they ??

You said some measure of success has been found with crossing Colby ... I've read that but have no personal experience. Sounds reasonable.

Joe Bingo I'll break down for you one last time ...

The Colby dogs have their loyal fans just like Re has their loyal followers. Both are loyal because that is only what they have and only what they know and also these are all basic pet homes that don't compete in anything.

You Colby heads always mention gameness. Truth is Colby dogs would throw such a low percentage of game animal that they are on same level as other non performance blood in terms of percentages. Out of 100 Colby dogs you would be lucky to get two dogs that would prove a desire to hunt under adversity. Better hope those two aren't males or you would have to hang some papers to keep your dream alive. Other. Lines would be 10x that at least and that's just from run of the mill stock.

I do have experience with Colby dogs. I never fed one and I also have never fed a dual reg dog other.

And my dogs have not and will not be game tested. I also will not breed them.
They did come from real working stock. I know what I have. And I know the chances of my dogs being bulldogs are about 50-1 when compared to your Colby's. And I'm not bragging or trying to put your paper pets down.

I'm not a hater I'm just not a lover. I wish Colby dogs could prove me wrong.

It seems that all the Colby followers only know Colby and that's it. KEEP IT REAL YOU WENT AND DID RESEARCH ON APBT AND WERE FASCINATED BY COLBY AND WENT AND BOUGHT ONEp

Good luck with your pets. I hope that you accomplish a lot in your hobbies with them.

Actually very reasonable considering it's highly likely that if you go back or were able to go back far enough in your dog's ped ... you might be surprised to find some Colby there. Why wouldn't crossing some nice Colby with something else, MAYBE improve both?

Apparently, Indian Sonny may not have thought so, but from the Indian Sonny thread I linked earlier and found on this forum ... it's said that Indian Sonny didn't like his Jeep crosses either. Maybe he just didn't like his yard and felt it was every other dogman's fault but his own or something ... dunno

I'll just be happy with the pure one I have and let the haters hate.
