Yes, I have competed in sporting events, but I'm not sure where you are heading with this. Maybe you havent read all my posts. First off, you cannot compare a bulldog with a human. Bulldogs were bred for generations for combat, humans arent (except maybe in the days of gladiators.) I dont think you have read all my posts, because in my very first post I state clearly what a cur is. It is a dog that stops on all fours for no other reason to quit, it concedes. Boxing and MMA have 60 second breaks every 3-5 minutes too, do you think humans can go 2+ hours with little or no breaks? That answer would be no. Comparing apples and oranges here IMO.

Good post Triple J. Most people cant separate what they want to do, and the right thing to do!

Zebo x Boomerang would have been an awesome event! cant wait for the excuses for this one. Let me guess what the first one is "just would have been two dead dogs". That could have been, but I kind of doubt it. Either way, in order to be known as THE BEST, you have to beat THE BEST IMO.
Some people loved the sport, and some people loved the money.

Awesome!!!! That's kind of where I was going with my comment maybe I just worded it wrong as I am not as advanced in internet dogging as some here LOL. But I know from those who HAVE been there that it wasn't uncommon for the big guys to go after the easier fish to make rank fast. But like you said in order to be known as the best you have to beat the best. I couldn't have said it any better myself.

And Icepick ... I seriously doubt the dog men handing ZEBO and BOOMERANG would allow it to get to the point where the dogs died I could be wrong but I don't think they would want to loose dogs of their calibur. So what happens do they pick up before one quits or goes out dead game? Cause both of those dogs were phenomenal game dogs you put best of the best together and someones dying or someones getting picked up or maybe even possibly quitting lol.

I cant answer for either handler, but I know what I would have done. Most likely would have been retirement after the show was over ;)

And maybe my reasoning was off on my statement and Ice Pick you can tell me if I am wrong for my way of thinking on the subject but if you take two dogs like zebo and boomerang that's some tuff competition which means that there is going to be some serious damage done as they would probably go a very long time so if they don't get picked up they have no choice but to quit or die am I right? Isn't true that the longer they go the less chance they have of going home? If their body stops before they do than they have no choice but to be deemed a quitter by some of the standards here they would be considered curs at that point. I don't know It seems like there were more game dogs and game losers than there were dead game dogs anyway. I would be interested to here you're opinion on what I said what I said.

Both were known for the damage they could inflict, but it would have been interesting to see if they both could take what they gave out. Bommerang's longest was into Teal and was under an hour. Aftercare is a whole other topic, but is an important part of the game. Some dogs had the benefit of great aftercare, while others had poor aftercare.
If one cant physically go, but tries and doesnt make the count while attempting to scratch, it isnt a cur in my book.
But, you use the word choice, its not a choice for a true game dog, its their way of life, they know no other way, so choice isnt a good description to use with a game dog. Now, its a choice for the handler though.

I agree that's how I see it as well... choice was a bad word to use they are either going to die or get saved or worse quit.

You guys know if we go according to the rule book a dog that hesitates is considered a cur? The rule is for a dog to start scratching snd get 10 to make it not sit on line and decide at 5 to start they are supposed to start screeching immediately so any dog that waited then started during count is a cur. If he not attempting when count starts he should be declared loser.

Of course they aren't machines but there is a difference between quiting and not physically being able to go. They won't all quit is my point. They can all lose and can all be hurt to the point where maybe they can't go but there are still a few people who breed game dogs out tbere.
Ice pick my point about the good dogs are where you find them quote isn't that all dogs come from stellar pedigrees. Its that people use that as an excuse to breed bullshit. People like to make quotes mean what they want it to.

BB I agree with that, and often that is case, I know of under a handful who actually bring a game one consistently and they win the same way most of the time which is too much for me..

So by the rules that story posted by Dr.Lector in the History section about the 2 males that would not go because they smelled the poon in the building would be curs?Or just on that day?

That sound's like a excuse because how can you prove that it was the body shutting down?

The way I understand the rule, is that if the dog makes it by 10 its still in the hunt. What do you say about the one thats first scratch is on the 5 count, but makes his scratches faster as the show goes on, opposed to the one thats slowing down on the count every scratch? The one slowing down, may be giving signs he is on his way to curring, but as long as he makes the count, he isnt a cur. Calling a dog that starts at 5 or 6, but makes it by 10 a cur, is speculation and not factual.
