I hope I'm puttin this in the right place. Well here it is I have this new puppy i got from a friend of mine. She's 10 months old and she's great I love her she likes to ride with me and my other dog MaMa. But we have a problem she digs and trys to dig out of her kennel i fill inthe hole i even put stones around the inside but nothing helps. I dont understand she was on a chain before that and when i got her and put her in the kennel she digs.

    P.S I've had her for about 3months

My friend puts patio blocks down in the kennels, then they can't dig.

Concrete kennel floor, or you can put chain link/chicken wire down about three feet into the ground

as stated-patio block works well. also you might look into a hot wire setup

I used railroad ties and kept my dogs from trying to dig out. But my dogs love to dig and the runs are covered in holes. As long and it's not an escape tunnel I let them dig. My dutch shepherd and apbt have dug a 4 foot den in one of the runs!
The posts above have other great ideas too.

You could always put her back on a chain set-up, it offers more livable space per square foot, plus you have the added security that the dog won't get loose from digging.

I had a dog that dug all the time and this will sound crazy but I started putting his stool in the holes and he stopped digging. go figure?

Above poster that could be considered animal abuse!

Actually, the method AceBoogie posted is used in the Kohler Method of Dog Training book. A book written for Malanois (sp?) training and such. I am sure it was probably practiced by more than a few old timers. I grew up with people that, if they had a chicken killer dog, they would tie the dead chicken around the dogs neck for a while to deter them from doing it again. That would probably be considered abuse too by some people.
Not that I condone either method of training. Just saying.
Back to the thread, the putting the poop thing in the hole works for some dogs and not others. Try it and see. She will probably just dig in a new spot though. You have to be persistant.

how in the hell is that animal abuse? is it animal abuse when one of mine goes under and SWIMS underwater sometimes for over a minutes in the lake?

just wondering seeing as he dident say drowned the dog? i can understand it being animal abuse but sticking his head under water for 4 or 5 seconds is definatly not abuse.....

I have another suggestion, put moth balls in the hole along with some dog poop, so far has always stop my dogs from digging. :)

Moth balls are very toxic to dogs! I had one that ate one before.

ETA: Most dogs won't eat them since they smell so bad, but some are just dumb and eat everything lol...I happen to have one of those

I took pictures when she first dug it. This picture is of one of my puppies watching the shepherd inside the hole digging. Notice you cannot see the shepherd, the hole is so big she fits completely underground. Weitzen is intact and I thought she was going into a false pregnancy.

Here is her butt sticking out, notice the holes in the other run. they all dig
    [IMG]

Here is the hole from inside the run. it goes back 4' deep.

Weitzen says "I wuz not digin'"

I don't care what they do in the runs as long as they are not digging out. It gives them an outlet. When I first put all the dogs in the dog runs they all started to dig out. little by little I just kept putting railroad ties and bricks and they don't try to get out. I had one dog say "if I can't go under I will go through the run." I put a remote collar on her and watched from the kitchen window and every time she grabbed the chain link I zapped her. She doesn't try to get out anymore. A hotwire will work too.

I have a female that cannot stay in a kennel. She will dig, eat, climb, and/or jump out of it. A proper chain set up is the safest place for any dog who cannot be contained in a kennel.
